Black Mesa: Blueshift

Should be child’s play once it comes out on steam, they’ll just need to load up the files based on BM’s AppID, the same way BM does with the SDK content.

Would be nice if Black-Mesa was already implemented in steam would make loading files alot easier if we could just mount GCFs, currently my idea is that you would need a stock install of black mesa installed, and our installer would create a BMI folder which copies the needed files and installs the new ones. Its likely BM will be on steam by the time we are finished anyway so my idea may never come to fruition.

We were covered in PCGAMER! Such exciting news!!!

Holy shit, that’s awesome!

Nice!!!

The only problem I have with Black Mesa and the mods made for it, the voices…

They are excellent, but don’t represent the people behind it.

A black people has another voice, than a caucasian, who has another voice than a Chinese (timbre, depth, intonation,…)

There is even a difference between young and old people…

Only the fixed persons like Eli and Kleiner and such has the correct voices, but the other people walking around the facility (scientist, guards,…) don’t have the correct voices at all.

A young black scientist has the voice of an old Caucasian guy and so on…

I can only post the problem, but as I’m a automechanic and not a game developer, I don’t know the solution (except giving every person walking around a fixed body)

Wow, congrats. Seems like the world is watching the new BM community much closer than we thought!

Awesome, I can’t wait for it to finish!

Idea when Barney and Rosenberg escapes Black Mesa
What if Walter and Simmons are replaced at the end of the game with Kleiner and Eli?

Also, when are you going to make an updated Inbound video?

Holy shit, you guys got a writeup on Polygon as well, great website:

Congrats!!!

Damn, guys, the hype is already way up. Don’t disappoint! :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t like that idea, it’s pushing the artistic license further than it should go.

Hahaha! looks like we have an audience.

No pressure or anything…

None at all lol, the mod is actually coming along quite well hopefully we will have something for show in the near future.

Ah good, I cannot wait to glare judgingly at your progress.

I look forward to it.

In Black Mesa: Blue Shift, would you be able to add “sourcified” versions of the High-def pack models (for fans of those models)? If you do, you should give the M4 a separate reserve pool from the Beretta M9, as the M4 Carbine doesn’t use 9 millimeter by 19 millimeter Parabellum rounds (& the M9 does). The M4 Carbine uses 5.56 millimeter by 45 millimeter North Atlantic Treaty Organization cartridges instead.

There are two problems with that, though;

  1. That would make the “HD Pack” change the base gameplay, instead of just visuals
  2. Black Mesa’s code is not currently available (the devs have debated making it open source, so that may happen in the future)

Also, someone is probably whipping up or HAS whipped up those models for use, anyway. There’s too many opinions on the HD pack to not have something like that in the works, eventually.

Then again, that’s what I thought about Opposing Force being made from Black Mesa’s assets and so far, that isn’t happening either.

Hey, I’m the profanity guy here!

Also, it would give more logic to the M203. I don’t think there are many MP5’s with 203’s attached… Whereas the M4A1… whooole different story…

I’m surprised there hasn’t been an M4 model replacement yet. I thought it’d be one of the first mods out there.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
