BF3 Not on steam

People obsess over how much bloom is in games but I don’t really see how you guys think it looks bad.

fascinating how people quickly change their opinions because a game isn’t available on their favourite digital distributor

lol

Never saw screenies, saw one from yours, instahate.

I’m pretty sure you’ll have to download Origin with any retail copy of any of EA’s new titles released from here on out simply because that’s how Valve does it. They are quite literally copying Valve’s business model. And perhaps they think they can do a better job of it.

Remember, competition is the spice of business. Keeps those lofty CEOs from resting on their laurels. Which means a better product for the end user.

Competition is good, fuck competition is great. Origin is not competition. All Origin is, is a lesser steam with anti-competitive actions to force people to use it.

This. If you’ve ever paid attention at what you’re seeing, you’ll realize that you don’t see everything clear and sharp. It’s called eye focus, and it is real. I don’t see why game wouldn’t reproduce it, as it is how a normal human sees. Same thing with bloom. Try to go from a neon-lit place to outdoor without getting blinded by light. Or look at a reflective thing while there’s a lot of sun. Bloom is just the representation of that.

iow: Niggas that complain about bloom and blur in games need to get off their monitors a bit.

I do not mind bloom, but what I DO mind is EXCESSIVE amount of bloom in a game. You don’t see everything all misty and bright do you? As far as I saw, even small dust clouds had bloom in BFBC2 and BF3.

Exactly. Bloom is one thing, but your whole screen being white from the excessive bloom is another.

Also, Imonfire, there’s also this thing about video games…THEY AREN’T REAL. They are for fun, and being blinded and not being able to see the heli such as in the pic, is really fucking annoying, not to mention causes migraines. One thing is to include it with an off switch, another is to force all players to suffer with it.

My opinions haven’t wavered much, I decided to spend my money elsewhere on a much better deal. :pirate:

Looks like they’re looking into the sun which would cause that :stuck_out_tongue: . But I agree. You’re saying there’s no way to lower it, even through the ini files?

For the most part the bloom in bad company 2 looks fine but the problem is whenever you try to look at something in the distance its impossible cuz you get blinded.

I don’t think there is, because I remember looking, and that there wasn’t an option in the ini. I then asked a long time player and they said it was for balancing, so it was the same for everyone. Still, it makes my eyes BURN and my general game play experience worse.

Wait, is bloom the reason for the misty look of that game? Because if so then I would like to lower it. It doesn’t look as bad in BF3 though.

Not sure, they like to shove a bunch of stupid pointless post-processing in FPS games nowadays. One of the reasons I have more time spent in Source-mod multiplayer games than I ever will in games like BFBC2 :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mind the graphics very much. I love the destruction  .

Go now and buy red faction series. and LAUGH. AND LAUGH AT THE DESTRUCTION AND MAYHEM.

I have all the Red Faction games, which one in particular are you talking about? I enjoyed what I played of the first one, even played it online for a little bit. The destruction is pretty cool especially since it came out in 2000. Needs a remake in Frostbite 2 :awesome: .

The first and second ones. I didn’t like the third one nor the fourth.

The frostbyte remake might turn out interesting if anyone dared to make it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mayhem is spell with an ‘a’. Just sayin’.

A Frostbyte remake of either the first or second titles would be awesome. Though the first would tailor more towards the destruction than the second one.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
