BF3 Not on steam

cOLD, but c’mon EA, stop being jerks and release on steam. Does anybody have more insight into this matter?

some say this is valves fault.

Why? What has Valve done? I saw that Crysis 2 was pulled off steam too. What happened between EA and Valve?

As long as I don’t have to download that Origin bullshit to play my retail version I’m fine.

I think it had something to do with EA offering DLC content for Crysis 2 through their digital service but not via Steam. And this was a violation of some term of agreement with the steam service.

i don’t get it
the game is not available on steam so what, you can get it almost everywhere (retail + Origin) and if you do miss the steam chat option you can always add the exe via “add nonsteam game” and chat with buds

But I just… don’t like things not being in order. I’m a perfectionist on things like this.

This, but it is childish of them not to put it on Steam.

I think it’ll be on Steam after preorders are finished, like Alice was, but I don’t foresee another Crysis 2 because DICE won’t let EA put exclusive DLC in.

why would they want to put it on steam
EA developed their own means of digitally distributing the game, removing it from steam, another digital distributor, seemed a logical choice

but what i don’t get is that they’ve kept it on D2D and similar digital distributors

There are laws about using methods like these to prevent competition. Valve could file for an antitrust agreement, but they’ll need a few more examples as one game being removed isn’t that outstanding.

I’m still waiting for an official statement on this. All there is is rumors and speculation.

AFAIK EA want to handle all the DLC delivery and services and stuff themselves but Valve won’t let them if they sell it on Steam.

EA just lost a big part of their consumers who doesn’t want to buy retail or from origin.

Maybe it is going to be on steam later after release? I hope so, otherwise I need to buy a retail.

Not on Steam >Pirate

Only heard bad things about Origin so far, and Steam should be the only one.

It’ll be on Steam after pre-orders are over, probably. Like Alice:MR was.

I think I’ll throw in some blasphemy and say I’ll just play it on the 360 without having to worry about some digital distribution services BS that either EA or Valve refuse to settle on, if this keeps up.

Doesn’t EA have it’s own “steam” that will be needed to play bf3 and The old republic etc?

Yeah, it’s called Origin, and it sucks compared to Steam. It’s EA’s way of trying to force people to use Origin so they can take over the digital distribution of games.

High five…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
