One thing that’s always bothered me about Half Life in general - as a FPS fan - is the fact that you can’t aim down your sights. It’s especially frustrating when the “SMG” in HL2 has a nice looking red dot sight just sitting there. 
Would that be possible to do in Source? Because if it is, putting that into Black Mesa Source would be absolutely amazing. :freeman:

Ironsights only mater when the game is designed to make weapons MORE ACCURATE when you use them.
Half-Life doesn’t have ironsights because the weapons are accurate enough without them.
The MP7 in HL2 could have used a bit more of accuracy tho.
Anyway, it’s obvious to what generation of gaming the OP belongs to when he thinks HL needs iron-sights.
If you like iron sights and realism, try playing the source mod Insurgency. It would be nice in Black Mesa, but it would not be Half-Life! I like realistic games too but at some point it gets out of hand and becomes really annoying. 
It is possible with source, take a look at SMOD’https://smod.wikidot.com/’ (I recommend giving it a try). But for me having usable iron-sights in any HL game is just plain wrong.

Can we stop with the dumb explanations pretty please? “MORE ACCURATE”, good lord you almost took my head off. It’s obvious iron sights didn’t make it in the mod because the devs DECIDED NOT TO IMPLEMENT IT. For obvious reasons like “too much work”, “I hate iron sights”,…
Ram could go “hey I’m gonna make all textures yellow with pink dots” and you guys would still try to find some crappy justification other than “he’s finally lost it”. Which at this point I’m amazed he still hasn’t, or he just doesn’t show.
How about the most obvious reason of all: it wasn’t a feature in HL. And, really, there’s no need for it, IMO.
I’m sure in the future someone will make an SMOD version of BM with lots of crappy stuff like ironsight, bouncing fake boobs blackops and M4 assault rifle addon.
The weapons in Doom were just aligned to the center, you weren’t actually aiming down the sights.

Well, apparently I’ve pissed people off or something. It’s not a big deal, but I’m a firearms afficionado, and just running around like rambo in a game is to me like playing a Half Life game where the zombies have no headcrabs. It’s just… retarded.
Kind of like the fact that you can somehow magically fire “both ‘barrels’” on the Spas-12, even though only the top one is a barrel, and the bottom is just the tube that actually holds the shells. :fffuuu:
In any case, I enjoy the Half Life series regardless because it’s awesome, and I’m willing to overlook that. Painfully, overlook it. :jizz:
HL, HL2, HL2: Ep1, HL2: Ep2 all don’t have ironsights. Doesn’t it then absolutely speak for itself then that BM won’t have ironsights? :rolleyes:

All I know is that the crowbar (and a couple others) does NOT have a cross hair and it really messes me up! grrrr!

And a M4 skin that came with the game of the year edition.
Lets be honest here both mp5 and M4 skins are official just dependent on what version of the game you had or whatever else.
To me their choice for making it an mp5 in black mesa mod is just their own groups preference for it, I have the original game disc and manual, it doesnt even remotely look like an mp5. on game screen weapon selection or even the picture of it in the manual
I always viewed the M4 skin in the game of the year edition as a upgraded version skin of the same damned gun
(common sense thrown in, M4 with grenade launcher makes even more sense then an mp5 with a grenade launcher, mp5 with grenade launcher is like a shotgun with a grenade launcher attachment added on.) I have no doubt mp5 with launcher attachment exists, but its consistent combined use is highly debatable.
(Now this bit is me just spouting off but if anyone here who does know tell me if their are shotguns that you can set to fire 2 shells at once almost like setting an assault rifle to burst mode. without having a second barrel

If you want iron sights its going to be a mod to add flavor, nothing more, if it doesn’t exist at first, then you can go to some sites and request it from modders.
