I don’t even understand how anyone could delude themselves into believing this crap. Normal thought process for regular human beings should be as follows:

Game is in New Mexico --> Desert --> Mesa (land formation common in desert) --> Black Mesa (cool name) --> Black Mesa Research Facility (it is a research facility)

Game deals with science --> Radioactivity (sciencey subject) --> Half-Life (property of radioactive materials)

In fact, I would bet money that Marc Laidlaw himself had this exact train of thought.
