Betcha didn't know this!

I found out where from Valve pulled out the name “Black Mesa” and probably “Half Life”.

I was watching the sky through my…eyes…, drawing down stars and looking them up in Stellarium. Now, in the Orion constellation, on the Hunter’s “neck”(a bit higher from Betelgeuse and Bellatrix) there’s this small star bears the name “Lambda Orionis”.

Here’s a quote from Wikipedia:

Does “λ” sounds/looks familiar to you? Does Meissa(pronounced “Mesa”) ring a bell?

I bet that’s another source from which Valve got those names from.
And there’s also this…irony? “Black Mesa” which would kind of mean “Black Shining”.

This goes to Gabe so I can get a confirmation.

lol ok

lmao
the Lambda is refering to the half-life of nuclear materials

This is wat ppl do when they’re bored waiting for hl2ep3

Wow you are pretty fucking stupid.

And the cake is a lie, Dumbass

Thanks
You too:freeman:

Mesa is spanish for table

Black Mesa refers to the location that the research facility is in (and under) and is the name of several towns in New Mexico.

why

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
