Bet on the engine Crysis or Source 2?

Share your opinion or appreciation about the future projects, which engine do you think will attract more followers in the future?
Which engine do you think will be more interactive and more attractive?
Do you think Source will beat Cryengine in the future?

You want us to compare an engine that came out in 2007 to and engine that hasn’t even been officially confirmed and only exists through false rumors on the internet…how about no.

whoeven cares man

even if it was cryengine 2 vs the portal 2 iteration of source, i’d still say source would get more games made with it.

Yeah, let’s compare the most advanced engine of 2007 vs an engine that doesn’t exist.

Flyaway888 should fly away.

he doesn’t mean the Portal2 Source Engine :hmph:
at least I think so, because Portal 2 Source engine is Source engine and not Source Engine 2

but there is no source engine 2 as far as we know

I mean in future projects, not the current. In present, definetly Crysis is more advanced than Source

It’s very unlikely there will be a Source engine 2, Valve will simply continue to do as they have been; update the engine rather than redoing it. And looking at Portal 2 it seems that strategy has worked pretty well.

In Valve team are software developers…not only those guys that made the games, role of these developers is to create not to update, to create the new technologies that are planned
HL 2 SDK is tha base of all versions of Source updated with every release; ep 1 ep 2 ep3 portal and portal 2, do you think that the upcoming HL3 will not use his own engine? other than HL2 engine
HL franchise will never die…so we are expecting HL3 after the HL2 series is done, true?

Crytek puts very much emphasis on tech so I think they will always have the more advanced engine, Valve goes for a more user friendly approach where a lot of PCs can run their games. If they made a super advanced game they would alienate a big part of the userbase with weaker PCs.

  1. It’s the Cryengine, not Crysis engine you twat.
  2. As most said, Source2 isn’t even a confirmed project. That’s like asking if Obama is better or worse than our future president.
  3. Cryengine 2 is better than 1, and Cryengine 3 is better than 2.
  4. Cryengine 3 holds more potential for games being made on it than Source2 because well, to be fucking blunt, you’re God damn retarded to think it compares to a non existent theoretical item. Leave that to Gordon Freeman.
  5. The Source2 engine isn’t planned, or at least isn’t publicly known to be a planned item.
  6. This list is too long for it’s intentions and you probably stopped reading at number 3.

The source engine 2 would be grand, but Valve isn’t Crytek. Realistically the current itteration of the source engine is 3 steps behind the Cryengine 2, and that’s the way it will probably remain since Crytek is the id software of this generation, In terms of graphical prowess. Given the fact that the source engine is one of the most modular engines around, it will get a great amount of followes and modders will adore it.

flyaway888, reading your last post gave me a headache.

C-c-c-c-c-combobreaker!!!

But yeah, WTF?

You people are retarded. [COLOR=‘Black’]source +1

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
