Mafia II on PC looks damn good, can’t wait for it to come out!
Sorry, the guy I got that off was using super sampling and running at a lower res to get maximum prettiness out of his screenshots.
@ MafiaII, I know- and it’s not even all that resource demanding. It still takes decent specs, but it’s pretty well optimized.
GTA IV looked better.
Okay, now I’m screwing around [color=black]although it did.
GTAIV ran like shit though.
I run it fine on my computer, and average FPS was the same. Perhaps I’m glitching reality.
EDIT: Scratch that, I just remembered I upgraded OS. Probably sapped some processor power. Though it really wouldn’t be enough…
I think GTA IV looks terrible compared to Mafia II and it runs twice as slow.
GTA IV has less impressive textures, shadows, colours and it’s just generally inferior to Mafia’s engine in pretty much every way if you ask me.
I’m also adding Mafia II to my list of prettiest games.
I liked GTA4 and I thought the graphics were good, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of its visuals is “orange and brown”.
When I first stepped out of the house in the Mafia 2 demo, I was taken over at how colorful it was. It was almost perfect. Just tone down the bloom a bit and it looks pretty much real.
It is also two years older.
That doesn’t serve as an excuse for the lack of optimization.
But it does serve as an excuse for less impressive textures, shadows, colours and an inferior engine.
I never said it did. And I agree. But it isn’t just the engine, it’s the overall appeal of the game. I just love how colourful Mafia II is.
Even if GTA ran on the same engine, but remained the same look it had now I’d like Mafia II more.
But that’s just preference.

Correct. I hope when I’m done with Mafia II a new GTA will be out, and with a decent story this time. Mafia II should set an example for Rockstar. I had almost forgotten how awesome the third person sandbox genre could be with a story and sexy graphics until now.

It was Grand Theft Auto 4 Episode of Liberty city and Uncharted 2 for me, both game are so realistic and looking awesome.
You can’t go in the water in the Mafia II demo, does anyone know if you can in the full version at all? Most demos that have water allow you to go in it.
No, you can’t swim in the full version either. Id say that Metro 2033 is the best looking game i’ve played so far.
I have to agree with eternalness, Metro 2033 is a pretty good-looking game.
I also love the graphics in Dead Space, dark and shizzles!
