Best looking game you've ever played?

Assassin’s Creed 2.

Monkey Island Series.

All of it? 'Cos you know, the graphics of the series couldn’t get more disparately varied. The first two did have beautiful graphics for their time, and the hand-drawn style of Curse was awesome. I’m really not a fan of the special editions though.

And for my own suggestion: The Book of Unwritten Tales.

Just a damn shame I can’t understand German :frowning:

Ico or Shadow of the Colossus? ;p

^this

That is, if I had to pick one. There are so many games with great art…

Wrong

Halo is literally the Garfield of games.

Bioshock.

I realise this game is quite realistic as well, graphics wise, but it’s the most atmospheric game I’ve ever played.

Mirror’s Edge

beautiful BEAUTIFUL architecture and awesome colors.

Epic boss battles

Omg that game sucks so bad.

Diablo 2 - Some of the greatest 2-D artwork ever made.

Cortex Command
- Play and see.

World of Warcraft
- Although I don’t really enjoy the game or the gameplay mechanics, the graphics are very unique and beautiful. The environments are diverse and wonderfully crafted.

games are objective

Saying Halo and COD series suck just doesn’t work, if they really did the wouldn’t be some of hardcore video game’s top sellers. That said, MW2 was a little disappointing with it’s crappy console setup, but it is still fun. Halo ODST is boring, but Halo Reach has breathed fresh life into the Halo Gameplay and style.

Anyway, most beautiful stylized game (actually a mod): The updated version of Dear Esther. It may not have quite the graphics of cryengine, but it sure as hell makes up for it with stunning creative level design and beautiful texturing and modeling.

The most beautiful non-stylized game (once again a mod) would be blackmesa: Once again, it doesn’t have the world’s best graphics, but the quality of work far surpasses that of commercial games. And combined with Half-Life’s alien sc-fi setting it makes for an absolutely stunning environment.

I like how you chose the most boring screenshots from both of your examples to show their graphics off. :retard:

lol. I love that cave shot. And it was too hard to pick from all the level design screenshots so I went with the alien controller because it looks badass.

Why am I not surprised that a thread about video games has a bunch of people bitching about games in it?

Because humans love it to discuss things. The most epic discussions have led to world wars.

Well, I’m not so sure how well this counts, but oblivion can look amazing with just a few mods, and fallout 3 already looks pretty good anyways.

If I say Crysis you guys’ll probably flame the hell out of me, so…

I always liked Portal’s art direction. Simple, yet detailed. I like how rounded objects are important to the puzzles and sharp objects are part of the environment. So far I haven’t seen a Portal 2 screenshot that I haven’t found interesting, either.
If this was for best looking mod, BM would win hands down. The effects like lighting and shadows are being used far more effectively than in VALVe’s games.

The old Nights games for the Saturn used to look pretty awesome.

Also Shadow of the Colossus was epic.
