Outcast!!!
Shit, how could I forget braid? You should get Machinarium, it’s a great experience if you enjoy relaxing point and click adventures. World of Goo is also very pleasing to look at. Another one I don’t think anyone has mentioned is Torchlight. I know it’s abit of a knock off of WoW’s stylisation , but when you have heaps of characters on screen and all your spells going off, it sure is perdy.
Hmm… Best looking? Then Crysis, Far Cry 2, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption (even if i never played it but my brother has a 360 i was impressed) CnC4 even if the gamplay is ****ty compared to the older CnC…
Gears of war isnt too shabby…
Oh and Kent Slak… Good to see another Slovenian
I haven’t played the game yet, but I have to say that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is very appealing visually.
I can think of a bunch.
Mirror’s Edge - The gameplay had it’s flaws, but I loved the clean, bright art direction for this game. Certain parts made me really like to stop and just look around. Very, very pleasing to look at.
Riven: the Sequel to Myst - Prerendered adventure game. Probably the best designed game I’ve ever played (all around. The puzzles are both extremely taxing but never stray from the storyline.) The game uses an extremely detailed sense of realism and symbolism in design motifs. For example, the creator of the world you’re exploring believes the number 5 is sacred. The number can be found on the number of sides on bolts, the number of islands, the number of leaves on plants.
Shadow of the Colossus - What can I say? Fumito Ueda is an artist and it shows.
Ico - Read Above ^^
Grim Fandango - Wonderful original design at it’s best.
Okami - Never beat this one (SO Looonggg!) but the graphic style was very cool.
And definitely my number 1:
Uncharted 2 - WOW. This is one of those games where realism is used RIGHT. As a person who practices computer graphics as a hobby, I can say my jaw was on the floor for at least half the game. I didn’t know my ps3 could even do what I saw in that game. And the art direction was so gorgeously done that the realism was complimented perfectly. I liked this game’s look so much I bought a big, glossy, pricey concept art book called The Art of Uncharted 2. (which I definitely recommend for anyone else just as impressed with naughty dog’s work.)
Oh yeah, Okami was beautiful. I like OoT and Majora’s mask. Not so much for their graphics but just how the cutscenes play out, they just look amazing.
I think Sid Meier’s Pirates! (2004) had a very good art style. I don’t know why, really; it just seemed pleasant to look at.
Holy shit fuck I played that game as a kid.
I’m pro PC gamer but the best looking ps2 game I’ve ever played would have to be metal gear solid 3.
BROWN. It looks like poo.
I hate that with modern games. Everything has to be brown, and grey and gritty and ‘realistic’.
I don’t know for sure what the best looking game I ever played is.
I love a lot of different styles. I’d have to say things like Metal Slug 1 & 2, Mirror’s Edge, Torchlight, Zelda: The Windwaker.
Ehh… huh?
Doom. The graphics are so simple and unrealistically awesome, they look just as beautiful as death.
He didn’t chose the best screenshot, MGS3 looks beautiful for the PS2, you have to look at the denser forest area. Also the final battle location
Team Fortess 2 would be a big one for me. Also The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom.
Uncharted 2 is easily the best looking game I’ve ever played.
Uncharted 2 looks fantastic, it also has the full colour range, rather than just brown. They have an optional “Realism Filter” which makes everything dull and brown, I think they were being ironic.
It’s called “Next Gen Filter” and yeah, it’s a joke.
Uncharted 2 has some color, something games in general lacks today.
Just like, every FPS today?
Except for Serious Sam and TF2.
True, wish designers would start using color more, it appeals more.
Well the Half-Life 2 series had the right amount of colour.
