Best HL2 SP mods

I’ve thrown grenades just about everywhere, I think it’s a bug. I can hear the pipes explode when I turn the valve downstairs, but when I go up to look, nothing has changed.

Edit: nevermind, apparently there was an extra valve that I missed. Just finished the game  Too bad it’s over already.

Minerva is an amazing mod. The guy who made was hired by Valve, if you didn’t know. He’s been responsible for both of the Portal 2 ARGs, and he has a sequel mod to MINERVA in development, although I haven’t seen any news on it in ages.

Nobody has mentioned Mistake of Pythagoras? For shame. This was one of the early greats. Be aware that you’ll probably have to tweak it to get it to work (it was broken by an update a couple years back, but I made it work with the aid of a guide on the Steampowered forums).

EDIT: P.S.: Did you guys know that Minerva is now on steam?

^Mistake of Pythagoras is an excellent mod. It’s really cool how some of the levels are based off of unbuilt designs by an old architect whose name escapes me. Having the Combine on your side is neat too.

This site details a fix for the problems you mentioned.

Edit: Also, there’s an extremely well-hidden secret in the mod that you can complete. I can’t even find anything about it with google except some ancient and confused forum posts.

It reminds Aphabetville map contest, nice maps you should try them

Yep, here’s an interview with Adam Foster about the release on Steam

Has Black Snow been mentioned yet? It’s short, but incredibly well-made.

Added to the list, now I remember the buzz about this game on facepunch

Half-life 2: Wars is an RTS version of Half-life 2 that is pretty fun

hal2:wars is really a hidden gem, also a note its a alien swarm mod not a hl2 mod, and it requires ep2.

Hopefully not super overrated like the last one I played. Maybe I expect too much of a quality and quantity from free amateur mods.

The Black Snow is actually phenomenal. Expected it to be another G-string but got pleasingly surprised.

No it is a HL2 mod, it just requires Alien Swarm to be installed to use some features from it

thought moving it to alien swarms version of the engine made it a mod of alien swarm.

It uses assets from Alien Swarm, not the engine

Any other masterpiece mods? for both hl1 and hl2(episodes) ? is Grey any good? Because 1187 was a disappointment from level design and gameplay perspective.

Double Action Bogaloo is fucking amazing and addictive as hell. It’s alpha so there’s only ever one server but it’s never empty.

Oh wayt, SP mods lel.

There’s that DBZ mod for Half life 1 Earth’s Special Forces. Even if you’re not into the Dragonball brand, this shit is undeniably impressive.

Matrix Strike :stuck_out_tongue: if it’s as fun playing as it is watching, then here I come.

It’s basically a Source update of The Specialists with a few of the “old” devs. (“old” as in “later in TS’s lifecycle. Not the original guys”)

Christ, I read that ESF has been in development since 2001. To be making a game for twelve years and still be going strong is amazing.

Yeah, and the work shows too.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
