I wasn’t that fond of Strider mountain, honestly. The levels used a really weird array of assets lacking any sort of theme, along with very strange strange scripted sequences. I’d even go so far as to call it surreal.
And there was a mod a played a while ago on a different computer that felt just like a Half-Life game. It might have been Silent Escape, but I can’t remember.
Does anyone know an almost “AAA” (by scope and custom content) Source mod, something about quality of Black Mesa? Best already released mod or seemingly close to release… I’m talking about something that doesn’t reuse 90% of Valve’s assets and is of size at least a few hundreds BM/few GB.
If you want to add GoldSrc to the list, there’s always PARANOIA and Cry of Fear…
Yes, Paranoia is great. Just trying out the “Water” mod. Better than I thought it would be, reminds me of some old-gen games.
Yeah the mod is really good, unfortunately the water in source 2007 hasn’t aged well.
the team that has created water is developing a new mod:

it’s on greenlight too if you want to vote it: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=137691323&searchtext=from+earth
Definitely, looks splendid. I’m having troubles jumping over that gate just right after seducing the guard with music, any ideas?
Never played it, but knowing how Source/GoldSrc can be… did you try crouchjumping?
Dude, you control mermaid in this mod…
There is valve to turn
Thanks valves everywhere…
Crouchjumping always works!
Oh, thanks for reminding me that those existed! I think I’ll play Cry of Fear while I reinstall Skyrim.
Downloading it right now, will let you know.
Have just been playing Minerva for the first time. It’s living up to its reputation
Ok, G String sucks. BOTH plays and looks like some C rate game from 199x
And idea what is it called? There once was this interesting mod, I don’t recall much of it, except some red girl/clown? It looked graphically good for a Source game. I think it was something psycho.
EDIT: 3rd person it was I believe.
Aren’t these pipes (right before the forcefield) supposed to be blown up after you turn the valve behind the boarded up doors (Minerva)?
Yes, try to throw a grenade somewhere, I don’t remember it in detail atm. The end-game part is super creepy, endless hordes of zombies T_T
