Best and worst moments in gaming history

^This, a thousand time this.

I don’t think they ever even bothered to explain it in 2. It was just there, a pointless bullshit feature to make it easier for complete idiots to play.

Best : Guitar Hero series.

Worst : Guitar Hero is discontinued.

Hell.

I lol’d.

You read my freaking mind. I wish I could set all of that post as my signature.

IMO the worst moment in gaming history, for CAPCOM at least,is when they did away with the zombies in the Resident Evil series.Instead, they added a new gameplay mechanic that caters to the average adrenaline rush,over-hyped junkies that call themselves gamers. Why the hell would they do away with what made them sucsessful with previous games?

Best moments: Playing HL1 on LAN Parties.

Worst: Counter-Strike: Source, DoD:Source and HL2 dissappointing hardcore gamers and passionate fans of the originals.

Fix’d.

Another worst moment that I forgot: The Wii. Why? WHY? It’s just so…bleh.

Best moment in gaming: when I play games I like.

Worst moment in gaming: when I suck at them.

That…

That’s actually a very good answer. Kudos.

It had to be done. Like the beginning of handheld gaming it’s just one of those things, good or bad, that HAD to happen.

^that Resident Evil REmake was a huge success, and Code Veronica, a must own for the Dreamcast, now they pretty much flushed their storyline down the toilet and are making a L4D ripoff with slow zombies, god damn just go make a damn RE2 remake for fucks sake

Now, I’m not going to bitch at you for not appreciating the Wii, because I think that anyone who didn’t like it hasn’t really played the right games on it, or couldn’t seem to grasp the controls. Saying the Wii sucks, is like saying that bowling or darts sucks…you just don’t enjoy leisurely games that you can play with a group of (drunk) friends.

Not to say that the Wii didn’t have any decent 1 player games, just not that many. Mario Galaxy was really cool, albeit a bit on the easy side. Excite Truck was a pretty fun racing game, but no online support was really stupid.

The one game that was done absolutely perfect was Metroid Prime 3. If anyone of you who like adventure FPSes haven’t played it, then you should. Once you get used to the controls, you’ll feel like you’re really in that game. The graphics aren’t as flashy as the current gen’s, but they’re really good, and certainly the best you’ll see on the Wii. No one can call me a liar when I say that there are PS3 and X360 games that look worse than MP3, but those games are rare…and shitty.

If you want a list of games to try out, I’d be happy to make one for you. Remember…there are a lot of people out there who enjoy the Wii who simply don’t have the time to put into some of the more involved video games, and just want to have some relaxing fun. They work too hard or have too many obligations in their life to spend all their free time playing hardcore video games…and they shouldn’t be looked down upon for liking the Wii. It does what they want very well.

Best : World of Warcraft
Worst: Age of Conan

Really? They’re both MMOs. You do the same thing 50 times and then fight something larger with more people.

MMO’s being bad is a generalization. Look at Planetside or EVE, tell me those games are bad. I could also say that same statement about almost all games,

“Racing games are bad, you just drive, then you go to the menu screen.”

“HL is bad, you shoot aliens and soldiers over and over again, then you fight the boss.”

Yeah, I just hang around people who play the grindy type apparently. I honestly can’t tell the difference between Rift and WoW, for example.

Ok, WoW 101, “We ruined a game that was once good.” Rift 101, “We copied a lot of other MMO’s, and put in broken PvP, then we decided that we won’t fix the PvP.”

I love the PvP in MMO games, I’m extremely excited for Guild Wars 2 and Planetside Next.

Oh my god too many games this November.

Sometimes I feel like “MMO” has become a pointless label everyone agrees upon without deciding what it actually means. Much like the term “RPG”. For instance: There are lots and lots of people playing TF2 right now. Is that an MMO? It’s pretty massive. No one’s ever in the same big map, but then that’s no longer the case for a lot of standard MMOs as well. They’re now often about instance-dungeons with only the 5 people you know. It’s honestly just a branding label; one we can often do without.

the day Insomniac gave up the rights for spyro the dragon was one of the worst.

1,100’th post. Get at me.

There was an explanation in the manual I think :stuck_out_tongue: They manage to fit a lotta extra technical story shit in the manuals in halo games. Either way I’m glad the health system is back (but it’s not as mandatory)

There should be more MMOFPS games, it’s a really interesting genre, and if done right, it could be great.

There is Dust 514 coming out, and it’s a FPSMMO set in the EVE universe, but I really am disappointed that it’s a console game, I already feel like it has lost all of its potential to be a great MMO.

I generally think MMO is the short form of MMORPG, which is a massive online rpg, and they inevitably involve endless grinding, questing, and dungeoning. I’ve yet to see an exception.

Also, 514 looks pretty generic from what I’ve seen.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
