There was a war. His tactic didn’t work. And we never will know if it would have.
Now suddenly it’s not about who began the war, but about Lincoln’s “tactics”???
Sir, may I ask you: are you trolling?
The attack on Fort Sumter began as a result of President Buchanan (not Lincoln) attempting to resupply the fort. The Civil War was already well getting ready to begin before Lincoln even stepped foot in the White House.
Lincoln becomes president: March 4, 1861
Attack on Fort Sumter: April 12-13, 1861
39 days.
All I’m saying is that we have no actual evidence of these things working because of the speaker. Lincoln never had a chance to use the tactics, meaning he a quote by him means nothing. Quote someone who actually used that tactic successfully.
At the end of the war, he treated the Confederates as friends, not as traitors.
Until he was killed, of course, just a short while later.
But thats just it. We don’t know from his actions whether or not that idea would work. If you are going to support an idea with a quote from some famous person, you should choose someone who both acted and succeeded on that idea.
Well, hating your enemies doesn’t make them like you or cause them to give up.
he was also tall
Thats true. Thats very true.
