eh. fixed.
That could have been so much better in AssRev, but they either executed it poorly, or just thought “yes, this is the best way to reveal more about Desmond’s past.” Because it wasn’t the best way to reveal more about Desmond’s past.
They’re busy making spinoffs with stupid names. Three five eight over two days.
This is true, they were in the middle of a fairly large city, you would think they could get to a hospital. Only they were deep underground in an ancient vault, and one of their two good climbers had just been stabbed.
I would get that DLC, but den defense and the Desmond sequences were the only things I truly hated about AssRev. I’m not going to spend $10 for two hours of shit just to find out something about Lucy that they decided last minute to throw in.
You know, I heard all about the den defense thing, but in the 11 hours I’ve played the game, the only time I played it was in the tutorial. I didn’t go around buying new businesses and lowered my little bar whenever I got the chance because I didn’t want to have to deal with it.
You know, even if I technically was spoiled, I sorta knew [COLOR=‘Black’]about her allegiance from the hints they were dropping throughout the series.
Like her liking Desmond. Nobody likes Desmond.
Yeah, they’d been throwing in hints about that since the first game.
i like desmond. why dont you like desmond? desmond likes you.
Only in Soviet Russia.
New screenshots, apparently leaked. Please remove if not appropriate. I think I’ll still get the game; Assassin’s Creed hasn’t disappointed me so far.
Oh man, this looks amazing.
Oh, and you missed one.
^ Thanks. I must say, the environments look surprisingly realistic and natural. So often in video games, the distribution in natural environments of rock, trees and foliage looks forced. But here you can tell they’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to get the feel right.
Those actually look quite fantastic.
My biggest fear with this game is it will copy too much from Red Dead Redemption. I guess the aspects of RDR that I didn’t like wouldn’t fit in during the American Revolution, though.
I think there are several aspects of RDR that it definitely would not be a bad thing to copy. I’d just rather they did it in some place other than America, it’s part of what attracted me to the games, that places like Syria and Italy are so underplayed in the video game market.
Also, anyone else spot the deer in picture #2?
EDIT: And the beavers in the same picture?
Yeah, Revolutionary America is a real big video game cliche.
Well, it’s probably because it’s America. But I like the time period and the setting, and presumably the developers will probably be very direct at calling “American exceptionalism” into question through the story. After all, Brotherhood did imply that [COLOR=‘Black’]George Washington had control of a Piece of Eden at some point in his life, and this could imply some interesting story directions for the game as a whole…
Sigh I never said it was cliched, just that the setting of America obvious and familiar to the vast majority of the western gamers, an opinion which, on the previous page, you seemed to accept.
I’ve barely seen games based around the American Revolution with the exception of Battlegrounds which was a mod for HL2.
I respected your thought out opinion and reasoning behind what you said, as opposed to being all “fuck those yanks.”
But the familiarity of America is null and void when it’s all forested and colonized, not full of megamarts or urbanized. I could counter your claims of Italy being an exotic location and say it isn’t the actual location that made it unique, but its Renaissance time period and historical accuracy.
Edit: Not that Italy as a location wasn’t a beautiful setting. Each city is a marvel of human engineering and construction, and Ubisoft did a masterful job of recreating each cityscape. It will be interesting indeed to see how they do the more natural landscape of colonial America.
i wonder if it’ll be possible for flimsy or rotten tree branches to break under your weight as you parkour in the woods
Note, for the second time, I said the setting of America. Not the American Revolution, though even that has been covered in films.
Oh I agree with you that it will still be an original and interesting experience. I’m not as upset as you seem to think I am over Ubisoft’s choice of setting. I would simply prefer that they take us to a place that is utterly unfamiliar to audiences, from culture, to climate to scenery. It’s just the nerd in me arguing for the vast breadth of cultural history that never gets shown in mainstream media.
It’s not a negative implication towards America, but rather a positive inclination toward lesser known countries throughout the world. That’s it, that’s all I’m saying.
