I can see how it would happen.
jesus christ i have never seen people argue about useless semantics so often in my life
it’s awesome isnt it :d
gasp, that’s like saying organisms are machine systems that specifically excel at growth, resource acquisition / self-sustenance, and reproduction
Is it so wrong to treat the organizations of persistent misconception as if they were systems whose higher survivability is due to particular traits they’ve adopted over the eons, such as convenient realities for a higher appeal?
if by awesome you mean ‘something that makes me wish for death’ then yes
The way I see it, Fancy Pants, is that I’m not arguing semantics. I’m arguing that Someonerandm is insisting I’m doing something I’m not. And then I’m giving my opinion on how I see atheism in general.
Catz: You have to understand that atheists don’t agree on pretty much anything. We aren’t a cohesive group. We don’t have a ‘leader’. We don’t have a collective ‘belief system’. We don’t have scriptures or other books that we follow. We aren’t all Democrats. We aren’t all Republicans. We aren’t all liberals. We aren’t all conservatives. We aren’t all “science-believers”. In fact, you’ll be hard pressed to find something other than lack of belief in deities that we all DO agree on.
We are simply defined by something we don’t do: Believe in a deity.
Beyond that, well…
Ok, then I was wrong. shrug
That actually seems to me one reason for me not believing in a higher being or supernatural stuff. We are wrong all the time, we disagree with each other all the time. I find it very weird that people in a given religion agree so much almost on everything, they don’t argue nor give reasons for what they are saying. And that is found in any religion, I’ve seen that more than one form of Christianism and in Spiritism.
YOU’RE ARGUING OVER THE MEANING OF A WORD[/SIZE]
Ok, guys, let’s chill out.
Here it is, hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdxeqEoDXco
Holly motherf***ing shit, I can’t stop laughing…
You’re probably right. The definition of words aren’t important. Table beach pear from toot sweet purple John.
because that’s what i said, you fucking retard
no wonder you argue about semantics so much, you have no idea how to read.
You’re the one complaining about semantics. I’m giving my opinion on what atheism is to me and how I see atheism in others. So, kindly, STFU and DIAF. Thanks!
Or maybe I don’t understand the fucking meaning of the “Ask an Atheist” thread.
yes, i’m sure atheists arguing with atheists over the meaning of the word believe that go in CONSTANT CIRCLES in five separate threads was the point of this entire subforum. well done.
“it means this!”
“nuh uh, it means this!”
“no!”
“yeah!”
“nooo you’re wrong!”
“YOU’RE wrong!!!”
there, i’ve summed up every thread about atheism.
Then why the fuck do you enter threads about atheism if that’s all you think we do? Masochism?
that IS all you do. sometimes i think hey, maybe they’ll be having a productive discussion! but nope. always the same fucking thing. either agree to disagree and shut the fuck up or work something out because it gets really fucking old when you ruin threads like this that could have actually had potential.
Or, you could fucking shut up and get the fuck out of the topic if you don’t like it. Atheism is a very boring subject (considering it’s just something defined by what it’s not). Therefore, we talk about things that interest us. If you want to bring up a subject (the pledge, national motto, ten commandments on public grounds and so on), do so.
Until that time, you’re just complaining and not contributing.
i promise i’m not the only one who feel this way. and for suck a boring topic, you sure use the same old stale, tired arguments 50 times a day. that’s not contributing either. you’re just repeating yourself.
At least I’m on topic.
hardly.
BACK ON TOPIC–
I’d like to hear everyone’s idea of “God” being on currency. In the United States, in order to make sure that we’re not like those evil COMMUNISTS, we adopted the national motto “In God We Trust” (over the, in my opinion, far superior “E Pluribus Unum”). Since the law was to put the national motto on money, they began making money with “In God We Trust” on it. They’ve been doing it for some time for coins, but they started printing it on paper money as well.
What’s y’all’s opinion on “God” being on money?
