Oh god. DO NOT WANT!
Okay Acristoff, we get the idea.
[color=’#212121’]@ hidden message: I know, but what I meant was that I don’t recall any white stickers on National Geographic magazines, internet censorship, or other extreme examples. In other words, it’s much better here than it is in, say, Australia (for lack of a less commonly used example. Poor Raminator), China, or Iran. But let’s not get into this argument.
Q: Do you (as in any atheist person ITT) think that atheism is right, in the technical term?
As an Atheist, do you feel vindicated by the results of this recent study?
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100224132655.htm
I closed the thread for a reason and yet you put it over in this here thread. At least it isnt gumming up the other areas of the forum.
Now I know why some of the other moderators have you on ignore.
He un-ignored me unfortunately.
It’s an article specifically about Atheists - you were right to close the other thread, it was unnecessarily controversial to have it’s own thread and I’ve apologized for that and moved on. But it’s a study which should be of great interest to Atheists and I think they deserve to know about it. What better place to discuss a scientific study about Atheists than the “ask an Atheist” thread?
My opinion on the study, is that the people who make it are simply morons who want to justify their choice of belief (or lack of belief). Being an atheist doesn’t make you a better person.
I explicitly agree here. The other thread was much too controversial, and we know it would of subsided into a flame war, but in this context, it totally applies. Assuming he’s not trying to bait, do you think said article would apply to you? I myself am Agnostic, but curiously, that article has me somewhat confounded to the lines of other logical reasoning, thought, and faiths. I skimmed over it (TL;DR), but does it make references to any specific lines of reason?
And it doesn’t make you a better person, my understanding is that having more of a innate intelligence leads you to your own reasoning. Not better, persei, but just a notch smarter than the rest, perhaps.
I totally agree. It belongs here.
It never said that atheists were better people, just smarter.
Mistaken post :fffuuu:
Are your parents ok with you being athiest? I’m not athiest (I believe god made the universe then evolution took it’s toll)but my friend is athiest and his parents are okay with it because he is a very smart kid.
My parents are atheists. Every single person I know in real life is atheists. So my parents are OK with it. Oh wait, I know one Christian I know, but he converted because of this…
Neither does being Christian, you dolt.
The following question is purely that, a question. I mean nothing by it.
If you were given unreputable proof that God existed, (ie. He walks by you and says “What’s up?”, then conjures up a tequila out of thin air.) Would you stop being an atheist, or would you ignore it?
Since this is just a hypothetical question, I would answer “of course.”
However, there is no proof (and no amount of pretty pictures of the natural world is going to change that), so…
I think I would doubt my own sanity.
Haha, yep, I’d have to be around 30 different people and ask them all if they saw him, too, because I’d rather sign myself up for asylum if I was sitting all alone, and some man walks into the room, calls himself God, tells me the answer of life, and then makes me some tequila from nothing.
I’d be scared my brain was melting before I would think it was actually God who walked into my room and said hey, before walking out with a wink, and a tequila on the table.
You quoted me so i’m not 100% sure if you’re asking me this, but i don’t really know what to think about it since I’m a liberal and not an atheist. So according to the study, it probably works out to average intelligence? Lol
I’m definitely an atheist but I doubt the article applies to me because I am not even interested in politics, let alone able to proclaim myself a liberal.
Also im not smart.
