I agree. In the same way that I agree that heterosexual rapist (or rapist of any kind) shouldn’t enlist in the army. But if they’re normal (and there are plenty of normal gay people), I say “why not?”
I support the repeal of DADT from a civil rights perspective, but my point was that right now under DADT, gays that are discharged are discharged for being so gay that their commanding officer or whatever knows about it. Normal people can keep their personal life and their professional life seperate, civilian or military, and not being capable of doing this seems to me like a valid justification for discharge.
But the question is: How gay is too gay?
