Ask an Atheist!!!

Well, why shouldn’t he? However, due to the lack of evidence I’d say it’s extremely unlikely that he does.

I’m sorry, but I’m still unable to believe in things that have no evidence.

EDIT: To me, “You can’t prove not-X” is a fallacy of shifting the burden of proof. “You can’t prove that invisible fairies don’t cause gravity” or “You can’t prove that the Earth doesn’t orbit the sun because it wants to”.

This isn’t science, is it?

I’m not asking you to believe them, I’m asking you to accept the possiblity (while still understanding how minute that is).

I’m sorry, but I can’t.

Why is this so hard? All of that is possible. The probability is just so low that it might as well be impossible.

I consider the existence of god to be about as likely as gravity failing, or for fairies or Dumbledore to exist. All of that is possible, but so unlikely that it might as well be impossible. This is basic science.

Science says that all things are possible but the probability is so low that it might as well be impossible?

I’ll tell you why it’s so hard for me: I believe in things that have evidence. If there’s no evidence for it whatsoever, I don’t believe it. I can certainly enjoy it (I love Half Life) but that doesn’t mean that I believe there’s a minute chance that it could happen.

No one is saying you should believe it. We’re just saying there’s an extremely small chance of it being possible.

Just leave it, he obviously doesn’t understand what you’re saying.

so how bout that atheism huh

So like this one time, he was like “lol you got served”, and I went like “OH U ATHEIST ^—^’!”

that’s funny, because one time I told someone “lol pwnt,” and then he said “u silly non-believer :3.”

I don’t know about you guys, but I became an atheist, so that I wouldn’t have to waste my time performing silly rituals that amount to nothing. But if I instead use that time to argue about religion, have I really done anything?

Basicly, arguing about atheism versus theism is utterly pointless for us atheists.

No one is forcing you to argue about religion. Go away if it doesn’t suit you.

No, since that’s just your reason for becoming an atheist. And a weird one at that.

Well its one of my reasons. I really don’t have anything better to do than to argue about religion at this point though.

That’s okay, I’m frustrated, too. Everyone is telling me I’m wrong for not accepting things that have never happened because “there’s no evidence that it can’t happen”. Not only does this raise red flags in my mind, it makes me want to pinch the bridge of my nose in exasperation.

But, who cares? I’ve been called an idiot before for not accepting things without evidence (usually by religious fundamentalists) in the past, and I’ll be called an idiot for not accepting things without evidence in the future, so let’s leave it there, shall we?

The only reason I brought up “gravity failing” at all is because it has just as much evidence for it as “God”: Zero. This seems to have gotten everyone’s hackles up and I got attacked. I defended, and I’m the person that’s at fault here.

But, yeah, who cares, right?

I agreed with you, accepting things without evidence is stupid.

WE ARE NOT TELLING YOU TO ACCEPT THINGS WITHOUT EVIDENCE.

There is always a chance that anything could happen. Whether it will or not is determined by evidence.

Will this table randomly turn into a pile of bananas? It MAY. Will it? Evidence indicates not.

It’s all about accepting POSSIBLITIES daniel.

And, I’m sorry, but until I see some evidence that there is even a possibility at all for it, I’m not going to accept it. That’s what I’ve been saying all along.
