First of all, I didn’t read past the first page so sorry if im asking the same question as someone else.
Second, I don’t know very much about Islam (or any other faith to be honest). I’m an athiest but i have no grudge against religious people.
I just have one question.
I heard/read somewhere that the only real problem with the koran is that it is more of a slightly vague set of guidelines for followers to live by. The book itself isnt good or evil, it is intended for the reader to decide the context of what is being said. But because so few people can read the original text, those who can, can manipulate for their own gain. Which is why it is possible for radical sects like al-qaeda to exist. The people in al-qaeda truly believe that they are doing the work of god because somewhere along the line the words of the koran were manipulated by someone with bad intentions.
Is this true?
It seems to me that all religions have a minority of crazies that want to kill people in the name of god. (except maybe buddhists… lol I cant imagine an angry buddhist) christians and jews just need to realize that they arent always the most righteous.

I didn’t answer my own question… I know muslim terrorists manipulate the koran for their own benefit… I just don’t know how they get away with it, is it because the book is vague, or that its hard to translate, or is it both.
How do they trick people into believing that killing infidels=virgins without getting laughed at? What is in the book that allows them to pull that off? Or is it just that they are good at finding uneducated, desperate people that will believe anything.
That’s basically the problem with organized religion. As soon as you organize religion, you have leaders. As soon as you have leaders, you have people taking advantage of their power.

Your opinion on Homosexuality?
I know certain Middle Eastern countries have things like Homosexual acts punishable by death. How about your countries laws and regulations? Are they often enforced, or like in my home state (It’s a felony), just outdated laws only kept for some sort of sick tradition?
Does the Qur’an mention homosexuality? Is it condemned within the text? To your best ability, how do you interpret said text to English?
