I know, I was hoping there was more than one Christian on the boards so someone else could answer my question. Though in a way I’d be glad if there were only one Christian around here!
That you admit to doing it is an admission of hypocrisy and dishonesty.
Yes, Christianity rejects it. When people talk about ‘God’s Law’, that is what thy are referring to.
Not even all Jews live like this anymore, only some groups of Orthodox Jews follow it completely.
Christianity rejects it, claiming that this was a Covenant specific to Jews and not applicable to them, while Christians have a New covenant with God through Jesus.
If you had actually read it, you wouldn’t make retarded comments like:
“I reject?.. yeeeaaa”
Yes, you reject it. and you would know that if you had a mind of your own or bothered to read or understand your texts.
Yeah - that’s EXACTLY what he said, and exactly what that means.
You say sarcastically that he was ‘jealous’. He WAS jealous - he even said so.
Yes, you absolutely do arrogantly judge the us, as well as humans as a group.
This actually made me laugh. You repeatedly misuse sarcasm as a derisive dismissal of others statements.
That rhetorical structure, the use of derisive sarcasm, is used when the idea to which it refers is obviously and evidently absurd. But using it to dismiss statements that are obviously true is a misunderstanding of the appropriate use of that structure.
This misuse is commonly known and is associated with the stupid. This association is so well-known that it’s become a cliche in American film. People are usually careful to avoid doing this, but you do it intentionally and as a habit.
And that’s REALLY funny to me - that you’re too stupid to know that you’re stupid. I’m not trying to insult you - I say that without malice and as observation. I’m not one to think of people as being ‘stupid’ in a general way - I don’t divide the world into ‘stupid’ and ‘smart’ and then put each person I meet into a category - I’m a firm believer in the Gump school of thought that ‘stupid is as stupid does’ - that ‘stupid’ describes a momentary lapse of intelligence.
But usually we realize our stupidity immediately - that moment when we realize that we’ve locked the house and pulled the door closed, and the keys to both car and house are still inside the house.
But you’re the one guy that just doesn’t get the joke and you go on and on and on. You have no idea how ridiculous you seem, and you go on and on, and it just gets funnier. Although, some of that could be because I read your comments aloud and in the Borat voice.
You don’t follow the teachings of Jesus, you’re a hater. And you have no reason at all to know how anyone else here lives their lives.
ahahahaha You kill me, man.
Wow - you have a Jesus complex.
No one needs or wants your forgiveness, and no one has asked for your forgiveness. But forgiveness for what? You have no knowledge of the sins of others, and don’t have the power to know. You’ve simply invented imaginary sins for imaginary people and then offered to forgive them if they have regrets about their ‘sins’.
You aren’t talking about any real person or any real, actual ‘sin’ - you just know that somewhere out there, someone is sinning. You don’t know who or what that sin is, but you know that they’re human and so they must be sinning somehow. And you hate them for that.
What are you talking about? Have you actually ever read the bible yourself? He says exactly that several times, including in Exodus. It’s the fifth commandment:
“You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me”
I DO know what you do, because YOU said it repeatedly. You hate.
And I’m not judging you to be a hater - YOU said it yourself. It’s not a judgement, it’s evident.
Based on what? Some real evidence, or your anger?
I said I think that you may be mentally ill, not as an insult, but because I really suspect that you may have an undiagnosed mental illness (or maybe a diagnosed mental illness?). Some of these ideas and attitudes you have are associated with certain psychological conditions that can be symptoms of mental illnesses. That’s doesn’t mean that you ARE mentally ill. It could be just a psychological condition not caused by a medical condition.
Assassin: I take the Bible as a whole, from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation. No Christian I’ve ever spoken to does (not even you!). No Jew I’ve ever spoken to does. No religious person I’ve ever spoken to does.
Are there religious people out there that take the Bible as a whole and follow it? Perhaps, but they are in the extreme minority and many are looked upon as “cult-like”.
I also know the time in which the Bible was written. I know the reasons for certain prohibitions such as the ones in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
I don’t believe in God, but I do believe that if God did exist, that He would’ve given you a brain and expect you to use it. Read the Bible. Research the time in which is was written.
Do you think God would want you to act in the way you’re acting to all of us?
There is a key difference. Some people have shown parts of the bible that were relevant to what they were trying to argue. You removed parts of other people’s counter argument to what you said.
If you think the quotes from the bible needed something else from the bible to explain their meaning, you are free to present those parts. Now, if you want someone to quote the entire bible in a single post just to point to the key points for one’s argument, well, show us how to do that, because I think this is impossible.
Yes. In Harry Potter’s first year, he had Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions and Transfigurations.
and
Professor Sprout taught about the Devil’s Snare in Herbology.
Guess what? The other subjects are irrelevant to the conversation. Yes, they’re there, but Astronomy is not going to help Harry Potter escape Devil’s Snare, is it?
Seething a baby goat in its mother’s milk is a commandment; one of the titled “Ten Commandments”.
The most common “Ten Commandments” that one hears about aren’t titled “Ten Commandments” at all…that’s the point I’m trying to make.
But, back to the main point: To date, no evidence has ever been provided for a deity at all much less the Christian deity. I am still waiting for it to be provided. Do you have any?
I understand your objection to atheists contradicting the bible from many of its little excerpts… Perhaps they find something from one story, some 10 words to quote that they don’t agree with… and yeah, it’s not really fair to ignore the rest of the book while nitpicking such a small fragment of it.
You seem to hold the book in high regard, but on a number of points it may depend on which version or specific verse you read because they can say conflicting things. They cannot all be ineffable if they say different things. And yet, is any one version of the bible more true than the others? How would you know?
well, in Georgia as I know nothing has changed since bible was “finished”. Modern bible has been compared to bible of 6th or 7th century(I don’t really remember) and everything seemed same except some minor and unimportant changes. I believe that Catholic Bible has been changed many times to suit wishes of those who were high in Hierarchy. for example it is known that Catholic church used to sell Indulgences which we all know were needed for making money ( through that doesn’t affected bible but this is an example that church used to change rules to his favor.) I don’t know what had been changed and what not but I am sure that those changes have been made.
I am the Lord your God
You shall have no other gods before me
You shall not make for yourself an idol
Do not take the name of the Lord in vain
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
Honor your father and mother
You shall not kill/murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife
You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor
One Bible version states that “homosexuality” is bad. Another Bible version of the same exact verse states that “male prostitution” is bad which is completely different from homosexuality. Which one is correct?
Also, did you know that the Bible wasn’t originally written in English? No matter what one does, when one translates from one language to another, something is generally lost; idioms, slang, metaphors…they don’t typically translate well to other languages and sometimes reflects a bias of the translator; e.g., “homosexuality” as we know it today actually doesn’t show up anywhere in the original Bible books.
Also, what makes you sure that the “Catholic Bible” (whatever that is) isn’t correct?
Additionally, those commandments you listed aren’t titled the “Ten Commandments” in the Bible. No, the titled “Ten Commandments” are:
Do not worship any other god
Do not make a treaty to those in the land you’re going to; in fact, destroy their religious symbols
