Ask a Christian

Where? I can’t find any legit study…

No it isn’t.

You are not off to a very good start, from what I can tell. You seem to lack a basic understanding of what constitutes evidence, and how think critically.

here are the 12 pages of doctors mistakes.

there is not oil main here. and this oil is not something like cure distributed through country. I thought you would understand that. if you will use that oil like: " eh whatever, I’ll give a try." it wont work.

I don’t think that there are any in internet but if even there was I doubt you can read in Georgian.

to understand me more, you must first understand my country and know a little about its history.

With less then 5 per page, there are less than 50. That is indeed very below the amount of unexplainable cures that is expected in the population, pray or no pray. Those miracles are not well documented, there are no testimonies from witnesses or doctors, no article… They are simply impossible to verify, they could all be invented as well! On the other hand, Ian Stevenson extensively documented 2500 cases…

those are just reports from the people. if you really want the documents they are with doctors.

Except they don’t count as proof because they are protected by doctor-patient secrecy.

I think that those people won’t be against showing those documents to anyone interested.

Don’t you think that if there was ANY sort of validity to your claims there would be a cornucopia of studies published with some sort of findings that remotely support your claims?

Logic, and reason shouldn’t be impacted by history or culture. No matter where you are, starting from a position of ignorance in your studies is not going to benefit you in the least. When studying it is wise to approach everything with a skeptical mind, and let the subject matter convince you with evidence you can verify through additional study. Results you can find trustworthy tests processes. Tests you can repeat yourself. Observations you can replicate.

All you seem to be doing is 'in talking ’ to simply experience more of what you want to believe. So far as I can tell you aren’t at all interested in truth.

Well in normal country there would be, but here… it is “bit” complicated situation.

mostly yes but my country is different alot. here people are different and the way we look at things is different and my countrys history is 50% of reasons i am christian.

you are funny.

Irrelevant.

Irrelevant.

I’m not sure if you are being obtuse, or if you are really lacking the requisite knowledge to even carry on a conversation relating to this subject. Either way, I’m glad you find frustrating everyone comical.

you don’t understand and don’t want to understand. I gave you facts and anything other you can check yourself.

Actually, you didn’t give facts. You gave us a story with very little in the way of facts and then ignored anything was contrary to your pre-established mindset.

You clearly aren’t listening when people are trying to explain things. Your stories and anecdotes are NOT FACTS. Not only that they are NOT EVEN EVIDENCE. Why should anyone believe biased accounts? Why should anyone believe someone with an agenda? Such things shouldn’t be believed. There is a good reason these recounts you put forth SHOULD NOT be taken as valid. The sooner you acknowledge this, the sooner you’ll be able to address this conversation rationally.

Would accept my claims if I gave you examples without evidence? If I said to you that the great Carl Sagan revealed the true nature of the universe to a bunch of people after his death through subtle cosmological signs, but I had no evidence of this, and couldn’t reproduce it. Would you believe me? Would you say that I provided you with any real evidence? Did I give you proof of anything?

NO! I made a bold claim that I couldn’t support. That is exactly what you are doing now.

I just showed reports from people who don’t even want popularity (at least most of them) and I tried to explain you that here people think differently than in asia or europe you want proof and pelase tell me how can I get proof of something that happened, through internter when here 90% of people don’t know how to use internet/computer?

and why do you think that someone whom happened miracle will start trying to prove that to someone? once I asked to priest what he thought about miracles and his answer was that miracles are just miracles nothing special. you know what? I liked that answer.
BTW miracles don’t happen to prove someone that god exists.

I’ve told you repeatedly. I’m getting tired of repeating it. Also, it’s not the little stories, and anecdotes that I’m interested in. I’m tired of telling you that they mean nothing to me or any rational person. That it seems so important to you worries me.

You do realize that people from outside your country, or even the ones from within who ARE capable and trained at documenting any observations and evidence WOULD have if there was any.

I don’t care what your priest says. I’m not making a claim, so all I’m asking is for you or ANYONE to verify the claims you are putting forth.

A simple experiment

For this experiment, we need to find a deserving person who has had both of his legs amputated. For example, find a sincere, devout veteran of the Iraqi war, or a person who was involved in a tragic automobile accident.

Now create a prayer circle. The job of this prayer circle is simple: pray to God to restore the amputated legs of this deserving person. I do not mean to pray for a team of renowned surgeons to somehow graft the legs of a cadaver onto the soldier, nor for a team of renowned scientists to craft mechanical legs for him. Pray that God spontaneously and miraculously restores the soldier’s legs overnight.

If possible, get millions of people all over the planet to join the prayer circle and pray their most fervent prayers. Get millions of people praying in unison for a single miracle for this one deserving amputee. Then stand back and watch.

What is going to happen? Jesus clearly says that if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. He does not say it once – he says it many times in many ways in the Bible.

And yet, even with millions of people praying, nothing will happen.

No matter how many people pray. No matter how sincere those people are. No matter how much they believe. No matter how devout and deserving the recipient. Nothing will happen. The legs will not regenerate.

What are we seeing here? It is not that God sometimes answers the prayers of amputees, and sometimes does not. Instead, in this situation there is a very clear line. God never answers the prayers of amputees. It would appear, to an unbiased observer, that God is singling out amputees and purposefully ignoring them.

experiment failed.

they are not sincere. they don’t believe.

ST. Gabriel was doing miracles (sorry no documents) and in his last will he wrote, that while he was trying to become like Christ with whole his heart he still didn’t manage it.

So, the person cured of a tumor believed but the person not cured of amputated limbs did not believe? Is that what you’re saying?

How can you know? For all you know, a lot of the people praying could be orthodox, like you.

The person with tumor didn’t ask for miracle, she just wanted that operation went well. But the person with amputated legs wanted from god to regrow his legs! see difference? people pray to god only when they NEED him and this is not only about Christianity.

Being orthodox doesn’t mean that you will go to heaven. A lot of people pray to god but few get what they want. Because few deserve it!
