I just hope that Black Mesa makes Xen make sense besides the random floating platform bull.

Its just, the concept of Xen is entirely different of how it was portrayed in HL so, I hope they make it interesting, even if they change it up completely.

Well, as all other aliens from Xen, they didn’t originate on Xen, but rather teleport from an entirely different dimension. But that’s another story.

Well I dont know if Valve thought in Antlions when they made that Xen Thumpers but I Would like think that Yes, it is for the same function that the Combines Thumpers. In any case you can see on the factory from Xen some Blue forces fields ( sorry I dont know its real name) like the Blue forces fields that you can find in Half-Life 2 and Episodes. So, I repeat, I dont think if Valve thougth all this things but I would like think that it is not a coincidence and it is the prove that the most things of the Conbines technology are from Xen. Bytheway, why the people thinks that the Aliens are not born on Xen and they cames from other Dimensions? I am sorry but I think that that is ridiculous. I haven´t saw in any moment anything that could demostrate this ultimate aspect on Half-Life´s Universe on fact the vortigaunts said that their people was under control of Nihilanth a lot lot of time… Well this is my opinion see yaa… PD : Sorry for my english I am from Spain XD

I believe valve is the one who said the invaders weren’t originally from Xen, but that they had gotten there in their escape of another, more sinister enemy. I’ve read some crazy fan speculation that concludes this enemy was the combine. I believe this would make a lot of sense. The nihilanth looked a lot like a synth.

Marc Laidlaw has previously stated that “nothing is native to Xen”, implying that it’s sort of a crossroads planet that supports a variety of life from other planets/dimensions. G-Man calls it “the border world”.

Also, vort quote from HL2:

“That sharp spur of hope has not dulled to this day. For once the lesser master lay defeated, we knew the greater must also fall in time.”

Nihilanth was their “lesser master”, Combine “the greater”. Not exactly a crazy speculation.

Agreed. And those blue rings they shoot up are to help stray aliens find their way to safety. Nice, easy solution.

Unless, of course, they turn out to have some other meaning entirely that has huge implications for the entire plot.

look some things: antlions comes from xen because the vortigaunts were farming them (or from were the vorts lived before going to Xen) 2 the thumpers we saw in hl2 were Combine-made with metal, etc the hl1 thumpers of Xen are Xennian-like because did they discovered the freggin metal before coming to the steel corridor were our crowbar was waiting for their heads? No. (the alien grunt armor is titanium/diamond/stone-like, not exactly metal) So that’s the cause they are different than the thumpers seen in hl2 (also we have to say the Combine got a technology wich the Xennians didn’t)
