An outsider's point of view on Black Mesa Release

I myself can survive without updates, but I don’t know if the community will. These forums are turning into a hellhole where every thread is full of flame wars and complaining. People want to know what is happening, and many don’t quite understand where they can find information. An update would calm lots of people down.

The devs owe us nothing and I love them for what they’re doing to HL, but going a full year without an update seems pretty extreme to me.

Edit: Are you talking about me, Daniel? Or just replying to Maxey?

Sissy fit?

None of this is at all new.
The devs have stated how things are and that they are working.
Just because any old person comes along and gives reasons to do things differently, or has criticisms doesn’t mean the dev team is obligated or should be inclined to listen to what other people want.

Who is developing this mod anyhow? On your own mod you can handle PR however you like. Otherwise, might I suggest stop using the forums as a place to come bitch about not getting what you want?

hissy, sissy, what’s the difference?

one’s a lot funnier than the other :3

Thats what makes us human isn’t it? The need for information, for knowing things, if that wasn’t a fact we would still live in caves. Wanting information doesn’t make you a “petulant child blabla”, it’s pure logic! In the end the BM team will need ‘information’ from the fans and community too.

Still as I tried to say in my previous post, there’s enought information to get from other projects who do spend time to give it, and appreciete the support they get in return.

I’ll try again:

The point is not about the amount of effort it requires to make updates. The point is that the devs do not want to make any updates. No one has any right to demand that they do. Simple as that.

Vormaen, I hope that was sufficiently testosterone-free for your requirements?

I heard there will be updates, when somebody reaches 2000 posts.

Yeah…look at Sersoft =)

I think the BM Team should just shut the forums section down until the mod is finished.

I think all the whiny newfags should just GTFO.

I think that a good number of older members are also frustrated, should they GTFO as well?

I think we should all consider the fact that they are still working on the game even though its been years. I don’t think we can even comprehend or imagine how hard this must be to create a game/mod from scratch that is even better then the original game itself. Not to mention it must meet the requirements of the Half Life 1.

I also think we have all lost our sanity a long time ago while waiting for this mod to come out, so all of what you said makes sense in sort of a insane way.

@Jethro and the rest of the “old timers”

The Devs should care less if people take things out of context. How does that hurt them? What they originally post is there for every intelligent being to read and understand. Anyone smart can understand that “We are having trouble with Xen.” is nothing more than a minor setback. Only a dumbfuck would take that as “6 MOAR YEARS!!! NOZZ!!!” WHO CARES if someone takes something out of context, that is their problem and it only makes them look bad. You shouldn’t care and neither should the devs. That is a stupid and pointless argument.

I was one of the people that followed Knights of the Force for all of those years, and that’s why I made my post earlier this week entitled “New Years Resolution”. I understand it could have been written in a more polite, less demanding manor. However, anger got the best of me and I apologize for that. There have been very many misleading mod teams in the past that have done some real harm. Everyone here doesn’t want that to happen…

“I think all the whiny new members should get the fuck out.” /fixed

Your post is nothing more than a flame and irrelevant to this topic. Also, people might take you seriously if you use proper grammar and spelling troll.

Xen was merely a setback, did you really think the Black Mesa Team would allow some half-colonized border world interfere with their plans? No no no, it was merely a stepping stone to a much greater plan…and this time, the community will not interfere!

Here here!

True oldfag reporting in.

I’ve waited (what six years is it now?) on these boards for BM to release. I’m sure another year won’t hurt.

That is a massive hint by the way.

Don’t worry guys I’m posting as fast as I can. :3

Edit: looks at post count :fffuuu:

1st post but long time follower so that people know im 32 years old have been waiting for BM since i first read about it a long time ago…
So as the topic title states “An outsider’s point of view on black mesa release” I’m an outsider never really wanted to get involved but a few things do need to change IMO

Before i say let me stress i really don’t care when this gets released i really don’t care if the dev’s don’t say a word… it tells me all i need to know on the front page “We have always gone for a “when it’s done” approach.” I’m sure one day that will change to “download here”

anyway the twitter update needs to go just looks daft saying “343 days ago” i think its a good idea that someone, perhaps one of the forum regs updates a wiki update? if wiki does get updated more often?
apart from that some post get out of hand and the reg’s should know better but i understand after all this time the same question’s might get annoying but a better titled forum rules sticky might help along with that possible sticky wiki updates ?

More detail on the sticky i think it should be at the top and the titles should be like “Rules read before posting” etc etc the content is very good just don’t stick out! but on saying that will only probably stop 10-15 percent of them post’s

If posts in rami’s ladies club counted, you’d have like ten thousand post you fucking attention whore.
