An intelgent dicussion regarding the "7 hour war"

/\This.

It explains why the Combine haven’t pummelled the last of humanity into the ground. Kleiner and Eli are literally the last remnants humanity has of it’s teleportation technology, that’s the entire reason Breen himself managed to stop the 7 hour war.

After Breens screw ups and the resistance uprising they got much less patient with humanity.

Going on from this I don’t think the Advisors are the highest Echelons of the Combine hierarchy.

I think the Advisors are either part of the ‘dominant’ race in the Combine left to supervise, or just one of the ‘dominant’ races.

I always assumed that they were the original Combine race - an assumption which is backed up by Raising the Bar. They said that in designing the advisors, they envisaged a race which might have not been too different from us, once, but they evolved in sync with their technology, eventually becoming so dependent on it that the white slug-like creature you see is all that remains.

But is it the technology or just them that allows them to be telepathic and use telekenises?

I would guess it was part of their evolution (or maybe the reason their evolution took the path it did) but we don’t know.

Wait so the Combine have supposedly taken over entire universes and such, right? Ok. Well is our realm the only one who thought to fight back, Or is it possible that all the dementions are having uprisings against the Combine?

Like for example Striders and Gunships are living things, Most likely the dominant species of some strange alien world. Maybe Striders and Gunships weren’t as smart as humans but stronger, and humans will probably end up destroying the Combine and freeing most if not all of the species the Combine “Combined” (no pun intended).

It would be intresting to see the world Striders and such came from. It would be even more interesting if the Gunships, Dropships, Etc are from only ONE of these, and the combine may infact have much more

Which is why I said UNLESS THERE WERE OTHER THINGS IN THE 7 HOUR WAR I DON’T FIND IT BELIEVABLE I made it simple, Striders and Gunships would not have been enough. And the Combine Soldiers are just humans so they wouldn’t have existed yet.

So the 7 hour war could have worked if the combine attacked us with much stronger things. For example there might have been 100 foot tall aliens with effin lasers for eyes, Or an army of who knows what else.

Jeez people -_- Remember what I said

Entire Combine>All of Humanity>Combine we see in Half Life

About Striders and Gunships, we don’t know what they would have looked like before the Combine started messing with their physical appearance or genetic makeup. For all we know, the original insect the Striders were based on were only 3 inches tall, but had some redeeming trait that the Combine liked, so they bred/modified them to be as big as they are in HL2.

Of course, the opposite could also be true. It could be that all the Combine did was give them the penis cannon and somehow make them obedient. Probably some implant of some kind in there somewhere.

THERE. ARE. NO. COMBINE. IN. HALF-LIFE.

Half-Life as in the SERIES OF GAMES, not Half-Life THE FIRST GAME OF THE SERIES.

The overlord of the Combine.

Valve missed an easy enemy name right there.

Finally someone who understands!

Uh. There was an unused song from HL2 called Combine Harvester. I’m pretty sure it was going to be the Combine’s equivalent to the Imperial March.

An Universal Union Combine?

A Combine Combine?

DO WANT

That’s some epic shit, BTW

:retard::retard::retard:

Anyone remember Rogue Squadron for the Nintendo64?

Sounds just like that.

Seriously, they could do better.

@the dude man, you mentioned earlier of our supreme ballistic capabilities. Well imagine that the combine, as an advanced race and what not, did have some kind of energy shields and weapons, more powerful of those used by the Strider and the defense walls in City 17. As everyone already said, what we see here on Earth is an occupation force, constructed mostly from our own people and resourses, spiced with some alien tech.

If you were to conquer some small planet, full of apes with slingshots (our great ballistic guns in their eyes), would you leave your elite forces to protect this? Of course not! And about those rpgs and machine guns, pistols and whatever, in Half Life 2. If there is so much alien construction material laying around, who said the bullets are not made from it, to harm it. Ever watched Falling Skies? And in that way of thinking, remember War of the Worlds? Yes, nowadays striders and such don’t have shields, but imagine back in the 7h war a Mothership, with some kind of massive energy reactor, charging units from above with energy shields.

And what if we see some new forces in ep3, that will make more clear the shit behind the 7h war. Anyhow, City 17 is not the only Combine base on Earth. Who knows what, Nova Prospect-like facilities lay around the world.

Also, they never knew about Gordon and his capabilities. If they knew, they would leave better occ force. He was like a thunder from a blue sky.

Uh, and imagine this! Our most superior weapon is the nuke. If we tried that on the combine forces (that we have no idea how they look like or of what were they consisted) it would be like throwing biscuits and milk at them.

Lol, nukes?? Great, they are charging our weapons! Thanks USA!

No but Rogue Squadrons II and III on Gamecube were pretty good.

Just throwin that out there.

The RPG was so dumb, but the bullets I can understand.

@Kelesh. I always wondered about our own nukes. Personally it wouldn’t surprise me if we had launched at least some, and perhaps on our own population centers. Possibly a reason why so many people had to be relocated from America? Imagine a population under alien infestation, then come under alien attack, only to have their own government class them as expendable.

I always wanted to have THAT in a HL mod I wanted to make as Shephard, the initial take over, mass refugee exodus’, initial mass holocaust. That would be something awefull to play through. You’d be sent by the Gman to make sure Alyx survives.

@Kaweebob: The only reason I wanted a gamecube. They should bring that series back, perhaps on xbox kinect. Imagine being able to press all the buttons in the cockpit! That’d sell like explosives.

People love explosives right?
