Everything on max!
But I have analyzed the issue again and noticed that it only appears if you stand in front of special light sources.
These entities seem to cast an additional shadow, but while the default one is still existent.

Alright, today I tried to play AS again and my reaction has changed…
Mainly because there were so many issues I just couldn’t even get a game started.
Well, I did get into one game – but whoever was hosting was so slow that I was just rubber-banding all over the place.
Tried to connect to other games but it always froze on loading or right after loading. Tried for a good half-hour until I just gave up.
I realize the game is free so they don’t want to commit to any expensive hosting options (dedicated servers, etc) but it seems a waste to me to put that much effort into what seems like a good game and then hang it out to dry.
Also, my friend and I realized that a L4D mod for it would be pretty damned cool; fighting off hordes of infected rather than aliens.
Also also, anyone else notice one of those boss aliens looks suspiciously like the Gonarch?
No. Nobody at all has noticed this. Not even any of the seven people who have mentioned it so far have noticed this. :hmph:
I think it dies after a set amount of damage is inflicted to you, and standing in the medic field constantly heals you while it damages you, keeping you alive until it’s done. You can also use the medic gun to keep teammates alive while they have parasites on them.
CTID’s right. Only thing is, it takes a lot of healing to keep the parasite from killing a player, so you really do NOT want to get hit by them. If your team gets more than 1-2 infestations, you can say goodbye to your heals. Fortunately, there is an electrified shield upgrade that protects against infestations, so that’s a huge help. Once you get it that’s mostly the only thing you’ll ever use in your 3rd loadout slot.
The parasites walk a fine line between challenging and annoying. Although as long as you just have one guy go slightly ahead and clear out the nest with a flamethrower is more like pointless.
Actually I’m already well into the design process of a new campaign with the layout and missions of the first map already playable and completable. I’ll be spending the next week doing art passes so you can look forward to seeing what I’ve been making in the “Show Off Your Latest” thread.
At first parasites are extremely annoying, but when I got the medgun (the gun you ‘shoot’ at people to heal them) it was not so hard. When someone is infected I tell them to stand still then I heal them.
I wonder if he also noticed that those boomer aliens use the half-life 2 zombie sounds just revamped.
Question, who is going to be the old Comm guy?
Double post oh well…
As far as parasites go I ended up earning an armor ability that when activated throws off parasites. I don’t remember what level you get that at though :meh: It was a few back and I’m level 26 now
TF2 Fps configs work for this game my game plays much smoother now. Also there is 0 darkness, no need for flashlights or night vision.
isn’t that cheating? ;>
Oh look someones afraid of the dark!
I have one question and one question only, has anyone recreated Black Mesa in the game?
Not yet; now get to work.
Cheating against an all AI opponent, will anyone care? I don’t think so. Besides I didn’t do it for the lighting I did it for the FPS the light is an unintended but beneficial side effect. If Valve is that concerned about they will make the commands an sv_cheat.
Went from 7-40 fps to 16-60 fps depending on the room.
You mean the dropship guy that pops up on the screen on occasion? He’s been replaced by a SynTek representative.
on my way to reaching level 27 for the third time, finished hard campaign only once. insane isn’t easy (playing public)
Yeah I was about to mention this until I read the second half of your post. If you use all 3 charges you really suck, though. I only average 1 infestation on insane and that’s due to inferior “flamethrower” wielders.
Also, if one of your team mates doesn’t have the power armor, use the girl medic because she (unlike Bastille with a 1/3,) has a 3/3 chance of curing infestation with healing.
Playing with GOOD friends makes insane possible. Playing hard with random people is like playing insane with GOOD friends.
EDIT:
I bet VALVe patches that into sv_cheat.
However I hope you were exaggerating with the 7 FPS.
