Airsofts

Well, before trolls troll, I’d like to clarify that this is a Help and Support forum, not technology and gaming, so it’s in the correct place.

To the business, I’m thinking about getting an airsoft gun, under 300 dollars. AEGs are preferred, and I’d like them full metal and/or bullpup styled.

you can get real pistols for 400$

But it takes a lot longer to get…

it takes longer to get muscular and learn martial arts. 400 bucks will give you that power eight times over in just 15 days

I am third degree black belt in Korea.

EDIT : I can’t shoot real pistols at people as an organized sport, can I? Now all yall who can, please help me find a decent airsoft, and shaddup about the real pistols.

Any idea on the type of replica u want ?

Everybody has a M4 and its boring. But i guess its a must-have.

Also, dont buy your country made Airsofts, they are shit. especially “Cyber Gun”, they are a bunch of retards selling crappy stuff at very high prices. NEVER EVER buy anything from them.

Best brands are japaneese made, Tokyo marui being the most popular. That means when buying from japan u will probably pay custom taxes, up to 20% of the package. that also means u better found youself some friends that will buy a massive package so u split the shipping and tax costs and the sellers from japan usually put a few gifts in.

Good website to buy from is https://www.redwolfairsoft.com/

Good Tokyo marui model : https://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/AEG_AEP_Tokyo_Marui_M4_M16_Series_Tokyo_Marui_M4A1_New_Type.htm

When and If u ever go serious about it, get yourself one of those :

Systema PTW

I have no idea if there are special laws in the US about airsoft shippings from other countries, u need to find out if its allowed etc

I agree, tokyo marui is one of the best around, i’ve looked around a bit, their name keeps popping up whenever people talk about quality.

Tokyo Marui and Japanese guns in general are good (godly internals, I’ve heard). Tokyo Marui in particular are considered to be the “godfathers” of airsoft, which means any aftermarket parts are almost guaranteed to fit their specs (for the internals, at least). The FPS on Japanese guns may be a bit lower than other guns to conform to the Japanese 1 Joule muzzle energy limit though. Also the externals are always plastic to conform to Japanese anti-gun laws (though the plastic is good quality). If you want full metal, TM is not the company to go with.

ICS makes good MP5s if you want that type of gun. Also have a unique split-gearbox design on their M4 models which means it’s easier to change the FPS if need be. A downside is that some of their gearbox parts are proprietary, and therefore not to Tokyo Marui spec, which means certain replacement internals might be harder to find depending on what you need.

VFC makes good M4’s, full metal, great exterior, with solid internals. I won’t bore you with gearbox tech but I’ll just say that their internals are solid enough that they won’t break unless you did a bad upgrade, and if you DO want to upgrade, their gearbox is easily upgradable since it’s built to Tokyo Marui spec. Also has a bolt catch if you want that.

Echo 1 rebrands all or most of their guns since they have no real factories… they buy Chinese guns (usually from cheap companies like JG, CYMA, or DBoys), put in an Echo 1 motor, stamp the Echo 1 logo onto the gun, then put their name on the box and sell it as if they made it themselves. Tends to come with better warranty than Chinese guns though. Exceptions to the cheap Chinese gun thing are the Platinum Edition M4 and the Robinson Arms XCR, which are both made from VFC factories and are therefore great quality. In general, Echo 1 guns are easily upgraded since Chinese guns tend to conform to Tokyo Marui designs.

The only bullpup guns I know of in Airsoft are the AUG, L85, Tavor, FN F2000, and P90 if you count that. The AUG and P90 are built and/or sold by a multitude of companies like Echo 1, Tokyo Marui, Classic Army, etc. The Tavor is made only by ARES as far as I know, and the F2000 is made by G&G, with official FN Herstal trademarks provided by Cybergun. I’m not too sure about the L85, but I think there are a multitude of companies that make it.

Cyber Gun doesn’t actually make guns. They only provide the trademarks and licensing. They have no actual factories, which is why anything they “produce” is total crap. HOWEVER, if you come across a gun that is “licensed” by them (meaning they have fully legal trademarks from real gun companies) but is built by some other manufacturer (usually G&G I think), then by all means go ahead and buy it if you want. Cybergun owns the trademark rights to Colt, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Desert Eagle, Swiss Arms, and a ridiculous amount of other real gun trade names.

The same deal is with Umarex. They don’t actually make decent guns, but they sell their trademark rights to other manufacturers like KWA. An example would be the KWA USP pistols, which are made by KWA but have Heckler & Koch trademarks provided by Umarex.

Great website, though depending on where you live the shipping can get a bit high. Great website though.

Systema PTWs are pointless to get unless you have yourself an extra $1300 or so that you can burn, or unless you’re a law enforcement trainee.

Airsoft shipped from other countries into the US is totally legal as long as there are no illegal trademark infringements (cough GLOCK cough :meh  .

And I’m a second degree black belt in Shotokan…didn’t know “Korea” was a martial art.

Except martial arts are not all about muscle and power.

This.

You may also want to consider Real Action Paintball (paintball, yes, but it’s easier to prove that you hit someone with paint than with plastic pellets  )

People say Echo 1s are cheap but that makes me think they’ve never used one. They’re pretty great - price point around $150 and better performance than any Tokyo Marui. Most people hate them because they’re cheap and plastic, but really they’re pretty incredible. Recommend 110%, as a long time player, airsoft store manager, etc.

Most of the time, the only reason to get Echo 1 guns is the warranty (30 days manufacturer’s warranty by Echo 1 isn’t a bad deal at all). Echo 1 doesn’t actually make their own guns; the vast majority of their guns are bought from cheap Chinese companies like JG and CYMA, and then sold for a higher price. JG is their main supplier, and CYMA makes their AKs. The Echo 1 SCAR (aka ASC) is made by DBoys. Granted, that doesn’t necessarily mean the guns are all bad, it’s just that you could get essentially the same gun directly from the Chinese companies like JG and CYMA for a cheaper price. But like I said, if you do go that route then you probably won’t get as good a warranty.

EDIT: And not all E1 guns are cheap plastic either. Plenty of them are full metal. I myself own a full metal Echo 1 MP5.

EDIT2: And as I mentioned above, if the Echo 1 gun was originally manufactured by VFC then not only will it be full metal, but it will perform great and you will have absolutely no problem with it. Plus the warranty, don’t forget that. The Echo 1 Platinum Edition M4 in particular is a great deal since it’s OEM by VFC which means solid internals and externals, plus it comes as a package with a hard carrying case, 1 hicap and 1 midcap magazine, a crane stock, a black flash hider, and if you get it from AirsoftGI.com, you’ll also get a RIS included. If you were to buy all of those items separately, it would cost way more than what they price it for. (And don’t forget the warranty)

Damn these are expensive. Thanks for the company-guide though.

Is this any good?

EDIT : I would also like a optical device (sights) for the gun. Any cheap, good, durable sight suggestions?

Living in Canada sucks for airsoft stuff, but I got a broxa a while ago (may be discontinued though) https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&section=1197&section2=1387&ID=6682

That is a nice little gun for the price, assuming you can find it somewhere.

Looks… cheap. Too cheap.

Yeah unfortunately Canada is highly restrictive with realistic airsoft replicas.

That depends on what you want, but usually Leapers is a great optics manufacturer for airsoft. UTG is the same as Leapers.

If not, then NC Star is an option too, but a lot of people tend to prefer Leapers.

My advice is to not get the “Holographic” sights, since in airsoft, there is no such thing as a “true” holographic sight, plus Holosight replicas tend to get expensive, and if the lens gets cracked by a BB you’re gonna be out of at least ~$100 or more, which IMO is way too much for an airsoft non-magnified optic. Anything airsoft that is marketed as a holo-sight is usually just a simple Red Dot disguised to look like a Holosight. For example, the EOtech replicas don’t actually use laser holography like the real EOtech does.

Most of the time an ACOG scope isn’t actually magnified like a real ACOG, so be aware of that. Make sure it actually says “4x magnification” if you’re looking at one and want to buy it. But in all honesty, airsoft guns (mostly) don’t need magnification since the range is limited compared to a real gunfight, unless you built yourself a high-quality long-range high-accuracy DMR platform… but no company sells that kind of quality stock, so you’d have to build it yourself.

Hmm… I’ll not get optics then. Savin money.

I got two choices here, the FN2000, or the Scar H. What should I buy?

EDIT : Also, what should I buy when first starting airsoft?

I am planning to get goggles, a cap, tactical vest, bullets, magazines.
I also need help on batteries… What should I know about them?

Before you cause yourself a world of pain, it’s generally agreed that you should avoid Airsplat.com like the plague. Their customer service is terrible, and what they send you in the box can sometimes be questionable. I recommend Airsoft GI or Evike (aka Airsoftpost). Both are based in California, and both provide free ground shipping on orders over $100. Airsoft GI allows for coupon codes on top of free shipping, plus 2% back in store credit on every order, and their customer service is top-notch. Evike tends to have lower prices and a much larger inventory, but does not allow coupon codes on top of free shipping, and forces you to choose between them.

RedWolfAirsoft that was linked above is good too, but the shipping can get pricey depending where you are, since it’s based in Hong Kong.

The Scar-H is from Evike. I’ll get that.

Can you like give me the whole list of recommended gears (from magazines and BBs to Vests and goggles)?

Well there ARE some Red Dot Reflex and Tube sights that you can get which are significantly cheaper than EOTech replicas… It makes aiming much easier, tbh.

Eye protection is an absolute must. Airsoft can blind you, and you CANNOT take that chance. Plus, all official fields require some form of eye protection, period. Any eye protection that you plan to buy MUST be ANSI rated to withstand impacts and be shatter resistant. Everything else is secondary and not required. Goggles that are anti-fog are highly recommended, so that you don’t have to take them off to de-fog in the middle of the game (safety hazard).

For gear, it really depends on your budget. For lower budget, try a Crossdraw Vest (many companies make them). For a higher budget, a MOLLE plate carrier, vest, or chest rig is recommended, but you’ll have to buy your own ammo pouches to attach to it. The upside is that it’s highly modular. Condor products are good enough for airsoft, but they don’t really last as long as Pantac gear.

As for the ammunition, make sure you’re getting precision high-quality BBs, since anything less WILL break your gun. The weight may vary depending on whether you’re playing indoor CQB or outdoor field. Don’t buy anything less than 0.2 grams. 0.25 g is heavier which means it will be slower, but it will also be more accurate and less affected by wind. Anything heavier is more recommended for snipers, tbh.

Does that SCAR come with a battery? If it doesn’t then you’ll have to buy a battery and smart charger.

You asked for cheap in your first post. I’ve never had it preform unsatisfactory at range, and it packs some kind of unhappy for anyone in CQC.
