Achievement ideas

They’re either immovable and path-blocking, or they’re not.

That’s why I made it. It’s suitable for the vast majority of the posts I reply to here. (Also to remind me of the worst Mega Man game ever made.)

It’s occurred to me that calhoun freeman might have been suggesting “need” is relative.

If he thinks that, then he lacks Temperance, plain and simple.

What do you think of a “crowbar only” achievement like Valves “The one free bullet” achievement?

I actually got One Free Bullet. It was lots of fun to get because the gravity gun was there- you had to use it a lot more, and thus had the opportunity to experiment.

Black Mesa, however, does not have the gravity gun (In fact, they struck that from the code first thing when they started). Hence, why an achievement like that would be fairly not fun to get.

The biggest problem with One Free Bullet is the notable lack of weaponizable props through out the city. You either have to rely on Alyx killing things or always be sure you don’t loose the same barrel you now need to carry around. It’s made far worse by the fact that many bits of rubble look like physics objects, without actually being them.

It wasn’t too hard to get that achievement in my opinion. At least on easy difficulty. :stuck_out_tongue:

I should try that One Free Bullet achievement. Might be fun.

Just some achievement ideas i had for BMS:

Not Quite from “Terrestrial” waters - kill the ichthyosaur using the
crossbow

An ich to scratch - kill the ichy using only the crowbar.

Freeman forgotten - kill a soldier without him seeing you

“Let my Vort friend give you a jolt” - get zapped by vorts at least 100 times

On a fail - Suicide once by jumping on the electrified tram rail.

I’ve got a message for you… - kill the first female assassin without taking any damage

“What Body?” - get killed from the garbage compactor

In the barrel today - kill 15 enemies with explosive barrels

Indeed it is!

I actually did it on Hard. Because I’m a freak.

Probably the most frustrating portions with One Free Bullet would have to be the antlion guard fight and the hospital sequence. In Lowlife there’s plenty of physical crap to toss around. The penultimate fight with the rebel escort mission was easier because you can still use rockets and just spam that.

YEAH

EDIT: The only portion of the game I had any real difficulty on in doing the One Free Bullet achievement was at the end of Lowlife when you had to turn the power back on to the elevator and then wait for it to arrive while headcrab zombies, zombines, and fast zombies swarmed. Every time I tried to shoot a physics option at one, a zombie would come out from the dark and attack just as I was shooting the object…which would happen to be something like an exploding barrel causing it to explode right on top of me.

The escort mission at the end of Urban Flight was fun (I’ve never used so many rockets) and I only lost one citizen (stupid dumbass wouldn’t enter the vestibule from the courtyard into the trainstation building).

Uh, what does that percentage stand for?

Edit: Never mind, it’s the total achievement count.

For some reason, my EP1 thought sv_cheats 1 was on, and fucked up every achievement I should have gotten. :frowning:

Also when commentary mode is enabled, achievements are disabled. I don’t know why, but unfortunately I only noticed it in Half-Life 2: Episode Two after I got some of them theoratically. :hmph:
