Abortion

I know adoption is obviously an option and I am not the one who even brought it up, the only thing I was speaking to was to utter stupidity that Fancy Pants used when talking about the subject.

The person who brought adoption up was in reference to it being the only alternative to abortion (or the only option that should be made available)…or making it sound like that.

they have plenty of options; condoms, pills, and surgeries, to name a few.

it is relevant, this is a discussion about abortion, and adoption is an alternative to abortion.

No. It’s not. Adoption happens AFTER birth… abortion happens BEFORE birth. You have two alternatives:

  1. Abortion.
  2. Not abortion.

After the birth, then “adoption” becomes an option…

Yeah and I ignored that and corrected Fancy Pants.

are you trolling me? you’re trolling right?

Yes. How DARE FP have an opinion that you disagree with. Also, adoption means that a woman has to go through the entire pregnancy and give birth… irrevocably altering the woman with mental and physical changes including the possibility of post-partum depression.

Adoption is an option post birth but no one should force a woman to go through a pregnancy if she doesn’t want to continue it.

Agreed, people have rights and no one should be forced to do anything they don’t want to unless they are compelled to by the law.

That’s YOUR opinion. You are the one getting hostel over my opinion. How dare I have an opinion you don’t agree with.

“Adoption is an option post birth but no one should force a woman to go through a pregnancy if she doesn’t want to continue it.”

which is it? another option is exactly what “alternative” means. choose a stance and stick with it.

Howso? After birth, you have two alternatives:

  1. Keep the baby and raise it.
  2. Adoption.

Before birth, you have two alternatives:

  1. Abort.
  2. Not abort.

It’s pretty simple.

No. It’s just fact. Adoption is an alternative/option for after birth. It’s not an alternative/option for abortion. Sheesh.

The reply i gave a few pages back, and thanks for the sig

What I said to Fancy Pants was fact backed up by statistics not openion. I was talking to FP and not you anyways, you just like to argue don’t you.

These options are not available to all women - you’re living in a fantasy world.

Further, the availability of birth control and alternatives such as adoption don’t support the proposition “abortion should be illegal”. That’s what those people meant when they said it was irrelevant.

I think fancypants’ point really is the end of the ‘should abortion be legal’ question. You either need to address that point directly (spoiler alert: that’s going to be a losing proposition) or beg off - because ignoring it or attempting to shift the rhetoric in the face of a superior argument is fallacious and disingenuous.

However, that doesn’t mean that people can’t discuss other issues regarding abortion if they like, such as the moral question. One does not need a uterus to discuss a moral issue.

Speaking of disingenuous: - pyjamasbox - is your steam avatar the word ‘hope’ in a carpenter’s toolbox?

I know this is old but it’s too retarded to miss. You do realise there are about 307,006,550 people living in the USA, right? Even with a 98% effectiveness that’s still millions of failures.

Fancy pants, how the hell do YOU know whether I can get pregnant or not?
Because, well, prepare for a surprise
(hint: read my username ^_^)

You are not acting accordingly to what you are saying here.

Wake up, this is not the kind of argument that I use against feminists, I’ve never even seen any feminists before you. This is an argument I use against fanatics, it fits the most stupid Christians I’ve known, it also fits communists and hardcore atheists. But you happen to have the same pattern of behavior that those fanatics have. One proof of the pattern of behavior is the bipolar world view.
Christians separate the world in Christians and non-Christians, those who are non-Christians worship the devil, do drugs, are alcoholics and so on.
Communists separate the world in left and right wing. Everyone from the right wing is a capitalist greedy bastard.
Hardcore atheists separate the world in atheists and believers. The latter group is formed of stupid people.
Like I said, I’ve never seen a feminist before, but, as far as I can tell, you separate the world in feminists and anti-feminists.

The world is not black and white, girl, and being on the extreme (either white or black) does not make you the right one, even if you know that the other extreme is wrong. Open your eyes.

Well if the parents aren’t able to vare for the child or something allong that line but otherwise adoption isn’t froced on anyone, I think that as long as 1 of the parents want an abortion because they are ready to be parents yet then there will be an abortion. You can’t force an child on anyone before it is born.

Why does that website exist and why are you pointing to it as proof? Of course tone matters, it would take an idiots to say otherwise. You are far more successful at swaying others views if you do not try to insult them. Insulting someone makes them defensive, and this makes them far more stubborn.

Still laughing that you cited that site. It has no proof and no value, but some of the articles are humorous.

would you like some more articles on how the tone argument is shit and doesnt work? excuse me for getting pissed when people are seriously arguing over whether or not i should keep my rights

It not a valid argument as far as proving a point is concerned, but it is a valid factor as far as convincing others of a point, which is half of arguing. So yeah, its a valid complaint.
