A possible reason for the Steam fiasco

The thread on SPUF was taken down, so here is the link to the one on Facepunch:

Pretty interesting.

An interesting read, no doubt.

I honestly don’t know enough about either the hack nor TF2 items to get most of it though.

God, I can’t believe people take the TF2 “economy” so seriously.

Yeah, the hats and new weapons have forced me to uninstall the game – permanently.

I just can’t get into all that laggy and screen-cluttering item-nonsense.

The game, Team Fortress 2, is officially dead. Giving birth to the proceeds of a new game; Item Hat-mess 2.

Im sure there is an option to turn off visual elements such as hats?? is there?

In the past there have been mods that turn them off, but I’m not sure that it’s an official option. I definitely wouldn’t mind an option to turn off all cosmetic items, though.

I concur.

No need for a war themed hat simulator.

Or people could just stop being overreacting idiots and understand that hats do not affect gameplay in any way and the unlockable weapons are balanced against the other weapons.

I say, this is a hat-themed war simulator.

I know it’s a sin to say this here, but honestly, if you really want the core gameplay of TF2, you’d be better off just going to the console ports of The Orange Box. People still play it, and it hasn’t been updated with the current tweaks.

Thing is, you’re also stuck with original five maps.

Not to mention that explosives often bug out and go through walls/floors. S’ why I stopped playing.

That’s when it gets funny.

Or frustrating when you’re playing a demo and can’t do anything unless you’re very good at direct hits.

Unless you use it to your advantage and kill people through walls :fffuuu:

Admittedly, it’s broken either way, but the PS3 version is worse off than the 360 one. I haven’t had too many problems with it on the 360, but then again, I don’t play demo for any extended period of time. I’ve since moved onto the PC version, but usually I used either the soldier or engineer classes.

It’s funny. I’m used to the standard, that if I google something, like “Genuine Purity Fists” (???), I should, among the first few entries at least, see something like “Wikipedia definition of …” or “Introduction to …”

Not in this case. I’m having trouble making heads or tails of this. What the fuck is Genuine Purity Fists?

Ah, but what does it do, aside from being cosmetic?

Nothing. Just like most items in TF2.

Well that’s bogus. And people take this stuff seriously? I can maybe understand why people might take the powerful weapons seriously, but I don’t see the point of cosmetic upgrades unless they boosted stats, or something of that nature.

I’d totally wear that pink beanie that I won for beating Portal 2 if it only boosted my stats.

If you want the game to be easier, go to a noob server. If you want the game to be cooler, wear epic clothes/hats.
