A fourth core in Portal 2

No it’s not, I understand that now. I’ve been pissed off because everytime I start a new thread, everyone just makes a fool out of me… When I post something that’s too long for you to read, you complain about it without even reading what it is. So my anger blinds me and hides the logic. I was just trying to say that the flashlight couldn’t be like the car lamp that I imagined, the one that doesn’t exist, because that would turn on the other core’s flashlights too. So I was just asking what the core was there for.

The core was there simply to show you a glimpse of what will be next. And the flashlight is on for no particular reason. It’s simply a prop that serves absolutely no purpose. And I do believe everybody has read your post before replying.

Sorry, this is what I meant.

Basically, not that a car’s headlights don’t come on just because it’s broken, but that they don’t always come on when it’s broken. Because that’s - say it with me - really dumb.

I think that was the initial problem, that it was really dumb. The intelligent people in this thread (such as yourself) figured that they wouldn’t have to explain why it’s such a stupid idea, so they never really did until recently. Evidently Vampire needed the explanation though.

I have allready posted that I have realised that now, so there’s no point in trying to convince me again, since I’m allready convinced.

Ha! I discovered a new thing to put you all “the-core-is-broken” believers. The core is actually alive! I discovered this via my friends full walkthrough of Portal 2 where he examines the core a bit. See for yourselves, at 2:19:18:

EDIT: And now you might be wondering: And what’s your point about this?
Well, my point is: When you walk up to the glass box, GLaDOS says that they’re all corrupted cores, and that they could be used to corrupt Wheatley, so if the core actually was functioning, why didn’t she use it??? All of the four cores were actually functional, and she just threw away the Flashlight Core without thinking twice!

You can’t see anything in that video that would suggest that the core is functioning.

Even if it did, why the fuck would it matter? at all?

This is the most attention Vampire has gotten in his life. That’s why he’s eating it up.

See previous post: it’s only minimally corrupted, Chell is having bombs launched at her, there are fifteen minutes to complete nuclear meltdown, GLaDOS wants to get the job done as fast as possible.

Also, as noted, just because it’s moving around doesn’t mean it’s alive, or if it’s alive, that it’s functional. Go watch a video of Terry Schiavo.

I didn’t mean that the claw is moving around… The eye is lookig and moving slightly the same time as it swings back and forth… Just looking slightly from left to right.

Earlier in the game, there were some turrets that moved and talked too on that conveyor belt that were deemed defective and destroyed by GLaDOS/Wheatley.
You don’t make a deal out of that (“OMG why didn’t it use those turrets… they worked!”)
So what’s the big deal and difference between those deemed-defective-but-still-working turrets and that deemed-defective-but-still-working core?

Because the point of using the cores was because they all were defective/corrupted, we were suposed to use them to corrupt Wheatly enough to be able to replace him with GLaDOS.

Why the fuck is this thread so long…

Probably because everyone in here, including me, can’t accept the other’s opinions.

No, because you keep being retarded.

^
I can accept this opinion

I rest my case

It would be a big relief to everyone if you actually held yourself to that.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
