A fourth core in Portal 2

Ok, me and my friend Fireeye (youtube) discovered this:
You know in these two glass cubes containing a lot of corrupted cores just before the final battle ween you and Wheatly? Look in the claw, and you’ll see another core whith a white “iris” that sends a glow to the other cores. So, now, if it allready were in the claw, why didn’t GLaDOS use it first? Why did she drop it to pick up the Space Core instead??? The only logic answer is that the white core wasn’t corrupted and wouldn’t do a shit to Wheatly.

EDIT: With Wheatly it should be the fifth core…

Yeah and you forgot all the other cores that were laying right there next to the 3 colored ones.

This guy makes great threads – totally ground-breaking…

That’s because you can’t actually see it’s iris, just the glow. Valve wanted you to see the irises of all three new cores so they put all three of them in the box and a “fourth core” hanging from the claw to show that GLaDOS would pick them up and take them to the boss arena.

That’s it. Just Valve foregoing logic for a second for some extra subconscious prompting. Nothing more. Don’t overthink it.

Let’s not forget the dozens of cores seen at the end of Portal 1.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure there’s more than 4 cores

Hey guys have you heard, you can make more than 1 portal in portal 2. D:

I should have upgraded to a two-button mouse years ago.

Even if this was some mystery fifth core, what are you even trying to say? you honestly think a massive company like Aperture would only have 10 cores? that’s just foolish

Havn’t heard this before. Interesting. Is there any kind of Easter egg about this additional core?

Oh gawd just lock this.

I’m just trying to figure out what kind of core it is, and why GLaDOS didn’t use it if it was allready in the claw. It’s very unnessesary to drop the core and pick up another one instead of just using the one in the claw. If I understood everything correctly, those glass boxex contained corrupted cores, which means that the white one couldn’t be a non-corrupted one.

It’s just a fucking stupid wrecked core with a functioning light unit! Nothing more.

So, if it was wrecked, why wouldn’t GLaDOS use it to destroy Wheatley? Besides, there were four places on GLaDOS body where a core could be placed, so why do we only use three?

why do you care?

Because it’s a freaking game, you moron. Why are you trying to analyze this?

Vampire, I see you walk around in this half-life series since the time begin.

Wrecked means it doesn’t work. In order to corrupt Wheatley you need a working one.

(1) The core needs to be functioning in order to corrupt Wheatley. If you stick an inert lump of metal onto him, you can hardly expect it to do anything.

(2) Three cores was all that it took to reach 100% core corruption. Why would GLaDOS send down a fourth core when three was all it took?

If it didn’t work, how could it flashlight the others?
