3D Television

only idiots watch tv

ITS GODZILLA

It’s actually a 3D image projected onto a pane of glass; not real 3D (if you go to the side, you’ll see it’s just 2D). The 3D work is impressive, though.

In regards to my prior post, a spinning glass cube or a spinning mirror might not be viable due to the speeds of the spinning and the space required for it.

What is more impressive is the work in motion holograms. You’ve seen holograms in the past on everything from chintzy stickers for little girls to certificates of authenticity to even money in some countries, but now there’s “rewritable” holograms. The plastic can be “rewritten” fairly quickly (near real-time speeds). Dunno how long it lasts, though.

Bye, guys, I’m moving to Japan.

Not really impressive… A simple rigged model with mocap data. Actually it’s rather poor when it comes to that kind of events.

Holograms can be visible even without any LED’s, glass and all that stuff. Ever seen something like this:

?

But all this is nowhere near 3D TV. It’s more like a science project than a device that you can use at home…

Oh maaaan you’re so hipster, disliking everything everybody likes because it’s so damn cool.

I wish I could be like you.

lol.

I think 3D TVs sound cool, but the glasses are WAY too expensive. Enough for one TV is almost the price of the damn thing :expressionless:

I would like to see SOME games on a 3D TV

Reminds me of some asshole who said that I’m just a sheep following a herd for liking Inception. :3

I’ve read somewhere about it that it has a refresh rate of 0.5 Hz (once per 2 seconds). They achieved quite a progress, because only 2 years ago they had a refresh rate of 0.004Hz (once per 4 minutes), so now it’s 120x faster. You need a 24Hz refresh rate to have a smooth video image, so maybe in another 2 years holograms like from Star Wars will become a reality.

Why are you saying that 3D glasses are too expensive? They’re like 150$… Compared to the TV’s price that’s almost nothing…

Piklemeup?

Right, and when you have a 4-member family
(or bigger) and you want to buy one for each, this is still almost nothing?

That’s awesome.

u jelly

and virgins around the world rejoiced as their dream of a real life anime character was realized

3d is a silly fad and anyone putting that much money into it is about to feel really dumb.

Someone wo doesn’t have trouble with buying a 3000$ TV shouldn’t be afraid of adding a couple of hundread more for the glasses…

this

Is that any different from television and cinema, creating the illusion of existence of heroes and inexistent characters so the audience feel like it really existed? Except perhaps that it’s not only virgins that enjoy that, but that is true as well for the anime character.

yes because it’s coming closer to replacing an actual person. it ESPECIALLY bothers me when they do something like that with music.

yeah, music does not require 3D
music only requires people to make it
