I haven’t been following this thread very closely, but Loony, you don’t really have much room to criticize other people about spreading misinformation.
I made 250$ jailbreaking ipods and iphones, so… Keep buying those shitty bars of soap so that I can get more money.
If I had to choose between the two I would gladly take a Zune.
Now you’ve resorted to insulting both of us. I’ll admit that there have been some misinformed statements on my part, but overall there has been more bullshit spewing from your mouth and it’s taken a lot of my time to shovel it out.
I hate apple because
a) many mac users are assholes
b) they’re way overpriced
c) they don’t work nearly as well
d) people who are computer illiterate (like my mom) are tricked into buying them by their pretty fancy gadgets that in truth don’t do shit
Also, I argue because I enjoy arguing. I see it as a mental boxing match. That’s what this thread is for, don’t like arguing? Then go away.
I think I’m right, you think you’re right. We argue. That’s the way it is and that’s the way it will always be.
I’ve forgotten about this thread until now, and I have a lot I wanted to reply to, but Elpants seems to have answered most of your bullshit sufficiently.
Give us some specific examples of illogical arguments (that aren’t your own).
EDIT: I find myself liking you more and more Sersoft. (in a totally not gay way, not that there’s anything wrong with that)
Sure, I take my Zune everywhere, my car, to class in the day…It’s a 30 minute walk to the Linux labs in the Engineering buildings every morning. I need some Death Metal to keep me up at 7am (Protip: ZuneHD is smaller than an iTouch)
As for lugging around my external HD, I don’t take it very far anymore, I don’t have a boyfriend currently. I am a college student, I live in and out of dorm rooms. Last year I would go stay at my (ex)boyfriends apartment for a week or two and not want to lug 2x23" monitors, my tower and all the wires just for a week long stay. Instead I take my Laptop and Hard Drive…then I have my 165gb of music and ~250gb of movies/shows wherever I go for more than a few days and it all fits in my bag.
It’s not like I take my Hard Drive everywhere I go. External Hard Drives are external so they can, you know, be unplugged and taken elsewhere.
I’d like you to point out one instance where I’ve done so. Mainly because I’m trying to not cede the high ground.
a) So…basically…you hate Macs because a few people you know who use them have bad characters. Lovely reasoning there.
b) They’re more expensive. True.
c) They work far better, but you’d never admit that in a million years.
d) Uhhh…give me an example?
No, I like debating. I do debating, I’m organising a debating tournament at uni in February. But arguing isn’t debating; its just screaming at each other with the hope of coming out on top. Its got the
Okay, on a personal aside, you’ve gone from being an opposition to being a camp, argumentative jerk. Characterising my opposing arguments as “bullshit” by mere virtue of the fact that they are in opposition to yours proves that you’re not just an unappreciative debater, you’re just a dogmatic old fart who can’t even begin to appreciate the fact that he might be wrong.

Christ where to start:
Just one? Alright… It’s not from this thread, because like I said, I haven’t been following this thread very much, but it displays your inability to take anyone else’s opinion and how devoted you are to spreading Apple’s talking points.
Windows being less stable than a MacOS IS NOT A FACT just because you (and/or Apple) say it is. If it’s based on just your experience, it’s a subjective opinion. Ask any experienced computer technician, and they’ll tell you that the leading cause of instability, regardless of OS, is from user mistakes.
And I’ve got more if you’re still in the mindset that Macs are similar in price to Windows-based computers of similar specs, though I don’t see a debate doing much good.
My Windows Laptop has never overheated, even when I overclocked the graphics card. In fact, my PC is so awesome that when it realized that it needed more airflow, it opened itself so that it could get it. (My laptop generates so much heat that it has actually melted through its case, however, it has never overheated, (it was still running Crysis at 50 fps) and just to clarify, it melted through though the case below the HDD, nowhere close to the graphics card. I RMAd the Laptop, and then installed some heat shielding between the HDD and the case, its fine now.)
you sir, are the one throwing insults. I called your points bullshit, well, because that’s exactly what they are, and Elpants showed it very eloquently.
Also, a debate is simply and argument held as a competition or sport.
In your first paragraph, you made a point completely unrelated to the subject, in the second you insulted both me and Elpants. Ironically, coming from the person who claims I am insulting him.
Well fine, if I’m the one throwing insults, you’re the one throwing childish namecalling into the mix. Calling me a “macfag” and calling my arguments bullshit is hardly the epitome of maturity.
And no, debating is not arguing held as a sport. Arguments are intrinsically unsupported, usually accompanied by yelling and completely unsupported viewpoints. Debating is where both people, using evidence and objective opinions, attempt to reach a solution to the initial question asked. All I’ve been trying to do is introduce some actual evidence (but as has been pointed out, it is still lacking - I’ll do my best to find some actual stats on performance), and temper some of your extremely subjectively biased nonsense.
I’m not particularly insulting you when I just describe your actions. You say things like “oh, the Music app is just thrown in with the rest of the apps on a random page that takes you ages to find” and “Audiosurf Tilt is better than every single iTouch app out there”, which are both quantifiably WRONG. On the iTouch, the Music button is on a separate bar on the bottom of the page, shown as soon as you turn it on. I played Audiosurf Tilt, and while I thought it was fun, there’s no way it can measure up to the awesomeness (as well as the sheer quantity) of iTouch/iPhone games.
The main reason that the iTouch will always have a bigger base than the Zune is because it has the iPhone’s hardware, which means it has the iPhone’s apps. That means that a) it has a larger support base (because it has, in effect, twice as many users) and b) it has more prospects for developers (because, twice as many users means twice as many potential consumers), and hence more developers will develop apps for it.

This makes me giggle this thread.
I have a question.
I have 2 iPods, am I an Apple fanboy? I just like them. I’ve never had a Mac fyi. The only thing I have against the touch I use atm is that it doesn;t sync with Winamp like my video did.
.
I have an iPod Touch too and I’m happy with it and yes iTunes is a stupid piece of shit, but those Apps are awesome, for example GTA: Chinatown Wars
:hmph:
I don’t think you understand what quantifiable means.
What I meant was closer to demonstrable, but I meant quantifiable in the sense that the statements could actually be quantified as wrong. Not quite the correct use of the word, but I do apologise if it distracted you from the rest of my argument.
No, I own a few iPods as well and I hate apple.
Wat.
I have a touch and a 2nd gen Nano, and I never really cared for any of the older zunes, but the Zune HD… DO WANT
My brother has an iPod Touch so I can say firsthand that I prefer my ZuneHD, simply because I think it’s a nicer device and it’s easy to use. It integrates well with my computer and home network. As well, I have iTunes and Zune software on my PC, and I can honestly say I dislike iTunes and prefer Zune. Everything about Zune and the device is streamlined and extremely well polished. To be honest, I find the color schemes and themes within iTunes and iPods to be very ‘blah’ at best, and I think that Zune looks nicer and functions well.
As a portable media player, the ZuneHD wins, hands down.
guys you’ve got it all wrong loony wasn’t defending macs he was making fun of mac owners that’s why his name is loony to imply that only crazy people would buy a mac cause you’d have to be nuts to purchase a mac when a PC is cheaper, supports much more apps,is easier to upgrade, will run games more efficiently than mac hardware running windows, and not to mention the fact that a PC supports other operating systems too like the one mac is based on aka LINUX, hell you can even set up Unix to have the exact same interface as a mac if you want and it has more features .
unix != linux
Tell a lie, I forgot, I have 3. I had a Gen.1 Nano too Oh lol.
I despise using iTunes over Winamp, but for now, it is a necessary evil. Until iTouch syncing with winamp is improved.
