OP and title never saying anything about how the games are rated. If reviews based on game-play count as rated then so do reviews based on content. Just because they’re from a misinformed source doesn’t make them not a rating.
What the fuck? Since when does that count to some form of rating?
It’s not like news sources give numerical ratings to how much controversial they think the games are.
Yes, we can talk about the publicity and popularity they give to the games in question, which does tie with what this thread is about, but rule of thumb, if a game is already popular because of the marketing machine, then the chances of it getting covered in the news become available.
Not all ratings are numerical. In fact most of these posts aren’t really about games ratings so much as popularity of the game.
Hahahahahahaahahahahahaha
Well, that is duly noted, rejected, and laughed at. Ok, serious stuff now, You cannot say ME1 did not have flaws, (well, I guess you could, but you wouldn’t would you?) Lets face is, you could talk to everyone, and go everywhere, but the side quests just seemed shallow to me. That, and the fact that it beat my GPU like nothing since Crysis, I have to say it just doesn’t deserve the praise it got, it deserved a lot, just a little less. I have to give the Bioware team props though, ME2 on the graphics, was simply amazing, it ran like Half Life 2 for me, and that’s very nice. I haven’t played through it enough times to make a judgment yet, but the side quests feel a little more fleshed out this time around as well.
So, in short, Cool story bro!
Opinions are just that.
Hi, OP here. Negative coverage in the media does not make something “rated” in the gaming community. This thread is for games that the gaming community consider good, that you personally do not. And in any case, none of those games were received well by the general media, and as such you probably rate them higher.
I decided hmm, how am I a part of the black mesa source community (black mesa) if I’m just reading the threads, not partaking in them.
I would say…
1.Halo and Call of duty
2.World of Warcraft
I don’t really think much else… :
3. Finaly fantasy???
4.Zelda 64, NO IM JUST kidding xD…I just noticed that a lot of you have liked and played it (I HAVE NO CLUE WHY ???)…my days were back playin’ super mario sunshine and unreal tournament in the first grade, stuff like hl2 and cod1…I played call of duty one a LOT…I remember my dad telling me a game where you could do almost ANYTHING was coming out…I WAS REALLY EXCITED…(it was obviously half-life 2) god this game has made a long journey, being nostalgic of the past is ownage…(awesome!)
thats a lot of punctuation you got there. i just got two things to say:
-
ocarina of time WAS great.
-
i don’t think hl2 qualifies for nostalgia just yet.
Playing HL2 in first grade? How can you be nostalgic about ANYTHING?
Am I the only person here that loved Majora’s Mask? I mean seriously, I almost never see it mentioned. Was it really considered that bad?
No, almost everyone who played Zelda as a kid loves Majora’s Mask.

Halo 2 + 3, Halo Wars - The first one was solid, but 2 and 3 just blatantly milked the hell out of the franchise. Halo Wars was very, very very average for an RTS, and I can’t imagine Halo: Reach being anything more than a final suck on the great Halo teet before it finally falls off the Microsoft cash cow and dies.
-
Far Cry 2 -This game was marketed to me as a good follow up to Far Cry 1, but instead I got an exercise in differentiating between different colours in the brown scale while driving between missions on opposite sides of the map. No thank you.
-
Mass Effect - The story seemed a bit tired and stunted, and the infinite, repetitive side quests were just mundane; I finished it, but not with any particular joy.
4)…More will come to me.
I don’t understand the hate that Fallout 3 gets; I played the game and loved every minute of it. I understand that its not the kind of hardcore RPG that Fallout fans love, but for the Average Joe, its a solid shooter, a good story and fun to play. And its absolutely nothing like Oblivion, though that was pretty good too.
Modern Warfare 2 was very, very solid for an FPS. Its nothing particularly new, but the single player is intense and the multiplayer is, well, brilliant except for the lack of dedicated servers. COD4 was the same, but slightly less awesome.
Shit, you speak it.
Halo Wars isn’t overrated: almost no-one talks about it, and when they do it’s to say it was ‘meh’.
Fallout 3 is a fun game, I’ve spent many hours enjoying it (and I’m about to purchase it again for various reasons) but it’s nowhere near a solid shooter.
Maybe because it’s not supposed to be played like a shooter, despite PR claims that should of been ignored in the first place.
Unreal tournament was 1st grade…which was a long time ago…that was like 2001…??? I played call of duty in 03 and half-life 2 since like 04 or 05…
then I think I found out about Half-Life 1…
Because of your awful writing you made it look like you were saying you played HL2 in first grade. His comment was about you being young.
Hurp. A. Durp.
That’s only your point of view…
1)halo
2)halo
3)halo
4)halo
5)halo
…which is the right one.
This thread is about overrated (i.e. somewhat bad games), so be thankful nobody’s mentioned Majora’s Mask
