Is HL1 old enough now to be considered retro?
It was released in 1998. That’s before Dreamcast launched, so technically it’s 5th gen and therefore retro?

- Gothic series
- Deus ex series
- Half-life 1

No, I’ve just not played better games.
I’ve played good games since those. But nothing I’d rank above them.

Donkey Kong Land was basically a portable version of the Country series. The DKC titles were better anyways. I’m referring specifically to Donkey Kong '94. It takes the original concept of DK Arcade and expands on the platforming and puzzle solving elements. It’s essentially what we see in the Mario vs. DK series today, but better. In fact, it used the original levels, and then revealed that there was more game than that.
I highly recommend it if you have yet to play it.
