You Laugh, You Lose

Note: That may have stemmed from him turning his back on the 4chan community about a month ago when the GG shitstorm (that’s still raging) occurred, among other things. But I can’t say for sure.

In a nut shell (with shillings) the community suspects him of caving to SJW influences and doing mass bans of several anons and censorship of the pro-GG threads.

On sale, this weekend only!

EDIT: This is a mildly entertaining video, but the little fanfares are just killing me for some reason.

I just randomly found this whole series of videos, they’re absolutely amazing.

Except the whole ‘point’ of playing Hatred is killing innocent civilians.

I have no problems with violence in games, but honestly, the people who are developing hatred are a little sick in the head.

Agreed, but the idiots in the media thought it’d be a good idea to cover it for the shock factor. Let it die a silent death, but nooo…

And what’s the problem with that? In GTA, you’re a wannabe gangster who commits several hefty crimes in order to rise among the ranks of the mafia, and in Payday, your goal is to rob banks, which inevitably leads to killing police and maybe even innocents along the way, and that’s just naming a couple off the top of my head. What exactly is Hatred doing wrong that the others aren’t?

Would you also tell me that the people who made the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) are sick in the head too?

I don’t mean to sound condescending, but I just don’t get why everyone has so much hatred for this game (lol).

Because in those other games, the point isn’t to be some fucked in the head psycho, it’s about achieving a goal to set yourself up for life. In Hatred, it’s just blatant killing for no reason. I watched the trailer, and it was kind of disturbing, innocent people begging for their lives only to be stabbed a dozen times and shot in the head, execution style. Texas chainsaw massacre is a horror/thriller film, and it’s meant to convey those frightening emotions and moments. This game however, has been lightly tossed around by the developers as “entertainment,” nothing more. They’re trivializing death and slaughter in a lighthearted manner that no other game has really done before. That’s why it’s disturbing. Also, the main character looks like he belongs in Dethclok (if I spelled that right)

At the expense of others, but okay.

There is a reason: the player character is insane.

And what, like Hatred doesn’t convey those same emotions? That’s one of the reasons it’s being made, to disturb people!

But that’s all video-games (and movies, books, etc) are, entertainment. Not that they can’t be more than that or that they can’t provoke serious thought and what-not, but that’s ultimately what they’re meant to be, something you do to pass time or as a hobby.

If we’re going that route, then GTA and Payday trivialize gang violence and bank robberies, Doom and Half-Life trivialize being invaded and slaughtered by outside forces, Deus Ex and Half-Life 2 trivialize tyranny, etc.

And tetris trivializes obsessive compulsive disorder behavior.

You’re talking philosophy here. It’s just a different form of entertainment. Not to mention, we don’t know what reason(s) the player character has for going out and slaughtering innocents.

I don’t think there’s ANY good reason to do that, but I’m saying is to be objective about it.

minimod It’s getting off topic here, might want to carry it on in the Chat Thread or PMs.

This.

Of course. That’s what makes it interesting to me, the fact that you get to play as an all-out bad guy with no redeeming qualities.

On topic: This happened a while ago but I didn’t think to post it, so here goes. A while ago, I downloaded VLC Media Player since Windows Media Player started to fuck up songs and not play certain files despite having the right codecs installed and shit. I love it, but there’s one minute problem. For some reason, it decided to display the album art of the first song played on it for EACH AND EVERY song. So, no matter what song I listen to, I see this.

Kinda starting to regret playing that particular song first, lol.

Not a reason. In fact, that’s an argument against having a reason.

Scarcely a fraction of the insane has any homicidal tendency, so correspondingly, the vast majority of homicide is committed by the legally sane (…especially repeat offenders who have the mental facilities to evade capture).

It’s just pissing people off. Even the media will make that apparent. There’s a difference between revulsion and disgust; this is the former.

And no, it doesn’t convey those same emotions-- in horror flicks, viewers sympathize with the string of victims trying to survive. In videogames, players embody the character they’re controlling, of course.

Whatever, not well in the head. I think that’s a term we can agree on.

True.
