Note the top link’s an up-to-date feed, this is an article on the early side of the investigation:

Behavior like this sickens me. Always has. This happened around 9AM this morning Eastern Time.

This is a clear sign that people in the US need MORE guns.
If all those kids were armed to the teeth and trained ninjas, this would have been avoided.

Ah yes! We should just ban guns from the country because clearly, banning guns would stop all violence. I mean instead of trying to prevent crimes we should just re-act and ban all the guns. Creating a black market for guns is a great idea so no one but criminals can obtain them. Its not like if a teacher would’ve been carrying a handgun he could’ve stopped him.

But hey, thanks for the lovely post! Instead of showing respect for the family’s who are going to return to their homes that are probably already decorated for Christmas with presents under the tree, without their children, It’s much better to take a political stance on something you can’t understand.

Oh ENOUGH.

We had this knock-down-drag-out last time there was a school shooting, this EXACT discussion over gun control. Eleven, I agree with you on principle, but even so, can we try to head off this particular discussion, at least for a while?

The news media is already having it out on this and topics from video games to reality TV, so let’s just hold off for a day and collectively mourn for something. The victims dead, the further loss of innocence in our morally bankrupt world, or something. Something other than the same arguments with “Call of Duty” like regularity. I want to go one school shooting without having it turn into a political shit-fit.

i dont think you can shoot a bunch of people apolitically

Horrific. The gunman killed his dad at home, his mom teacher in the kindergarten room, all of the kindergartners in the room with her, as well as others.

So sad! :frowning:

He liked Mass Effect. That’s definitely the reason. I’m surprised nobody shot up a school before now after ME3’s ending.

Have they found an actual reason for this? Everybody always jumps on everything in these cases except the mental state of the person.

K3nny’s final sentence is my new favorite one.
Though, I do agree ninja training should be mandatory for Elementary school children (maybe it can replace PE).

Wonder how long until someone start to puzzle together the shooter’s motives.

Let’s make this clear, it’s a thread about the shooting not about gun laws, or a political argument, please keep on topic.

On another note, 26 kill count. Most children under or at the age of 10. This is just horrifying.

From what little I read, I gathered he was there to kill his mother and took others down as well.

Absolutely heartbreaking. I wish there was a simple solution to these problems. I know it’s the Onion, but this article sums my feelings up pretty accurately.

I wasn’t talking about gun laws. I’m not arguing with anyone. I am in total agreement with elevenbravo; teachers should all carry guns.

way more kids would get shot if teachers were armed

A shooting happened in a mall in Oregon, yet it barely made the news. Why? Because shootings have become a common thing in the US.

I know I had some teachers who probably wanted to shoot me.

its a fuckin insane and terrifying idea and the fact motherfuckers are parroting it as common sense is a definite omen that the america monster is close to assuming its ultimate form

All falls down

You mean that the US is some sort of massive Pokemon? Amazing.

According to the news: known history of mental problems and his mom bought him the weapons.

Can you also give me the winning lottery numbers?

It doesn’t take superhuman reasoning or precognition to see that the equation “more guns = less violence” doesn’t add up.

I can get the argument as to why a shooting doesn’t necessarily mean we need to make guns illegal. What I don’t get is how it gets used as an argument on why we should have more guns. People are stupid motherfuckers and I don’t trust them to do the right thing in a violent and armed situation, I barely even trust the cops to do that.
