Since we’ve been waiting for Xen for so long, i forgot a lot of the game.
So i figured when Xen comes out, i’ll play from start.
What’s your choice?
Going to guess it is going to require a restart. as they are updating many of the maps with lighting and other tools.
That doesn’t make any sense.
I’m going to start from Xen.
Anytime you do an engine update with source things break, its why we have the t-pose vorts and melted marines. one sure fire way to get them is to start from an old save. even if the next map is fresh loaded it causes bugs.

Yeah with that statement I can say you are miss understanding my point.
I was stating that I will have to restart. also I doubt there will be a xen start unless you use map_#### so at the least it will be restarting lambda core. I do not know for sure. I just know what I am doing.
Might as well use it as an excuse to play the entire game again.
And then HL2 and the Episodes.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to play through to the last map of Xen before starting to restore the first map.
Restore xen to pre-xen!
I actually do plan to restore the scientist camps to a pre-disaster state and connect them through the Lambda Complex to Black Mesa itself but I’m not currently sure what to do with the outside areas that have no human presence at all. I’m sure I’ll think of something once I actually get a chance to see them.
As much as I would like to play from the start I don’t think I could keep myself from the forums because hype and I don’t want spoilers. I will use a console command to start with Xen once released and play the entire game after that.
You know, you can just use the menu and select a chapter instead. 
You can only select a chapter that has been unlocked.
The developers have said that they will include a saved game for those that just want to start playing Xen.
I’m going to play the whole game again to see the new changes that they have encorporated into the Earth levels.

With the engine updated and stuff, i want to retry the game again.
Gonna be playing the whole game again as I do it more than once a year so it’d be an excuse to play it again as well as experience the engine improvements etc. and teleport to Xen as it was meant to be.
Every time the game got updated I would start from the beginning to the end for a whole gameplay. So when Xen is released, I will do the same thing.
I was always looking forward to play the game start to finish once Xen is out. Much more so since they’ll be implementing dynamic lighting. So it will be fun to look for all the changed environments!
