Unbeknownst to us, this is actually all of Xen. We jump across that platform, and the portal to the Nihilanth is right there.
They’ve truly innovated Xen by removing all those unnecessary, boring chapters!
Ofc they took out all the chapters. It was the only logical thing to do. And I heard they made Nihilanth into a quick time event since everyone just loves those.
Tru dat. You go through the portal in Lambda Core, quickly hop through this cave, and then Nihilanth. It’s our most “streamlined” set of chapters to date!
Fear not, however, in a year or two’s time I’ll be putting together a “Xen Uncut” paid mod for you all. It will only cost $99.99; what a steal!
It has probably been said by A LOT already, but I love the detail and work that has gone into the creation of this inner cave.
Not only from the water present with ascending fog but also the wild type of the crystals, as for the presence of human accomodation.
Something we defenatly missed in the early Half-Life. But bringing all of these aspects up in this singular environment, is certainly something amazing!
Just the kind of thing you would expect from scientists at Black Mesa, to some-sort construct their Field Lab within The Border World, making it accessible and allowing
transport of samples (such as crystals, organisms, rocks, sedement, etc.).
It just makes you hungry for more to be released on a soon/early notice ^^
Really guys, the waiting we’re all doing is becoming worth for
I’m kinda late but I like this screenshot. It is great to see more “human” Xen like it was in Blue Shift that was considered the greatest Xen version rather than HL1 one.
OT: I always had the plan to play from Black Mesa through Half-Life 2: Episode 2 when Xen would have been released and wished that by that Time, Half-Life 3 had been released curls into fetal position and tries not to cry
Nice guys. Lmao watch valve just say this whole games canon and call it good, replace the real first game with this instead cause it was better all around.

Well, if it weren’t for Half-Life, there wouldn’t be a Black Mesa.
So I was thinking about what the Nihilanth would look like if redesigned for Black Mesa, taking into account of it’s backstory and history with the Combine Empire, general aesthetic of Combine technology and design elements of synths, I made this!
I wanted to give the look of something that’s been enslaved and tortured, genetically enhanced and mutated into something horrible and bearing no similarity to it’s natural form, left with stitches and veins, nano-devices embedded throughout it’s body, clearly continuously probed for it’s special telepathy abilities that can open up doors through space-time, being used as a tool to serve as their own local-teleport device. I could imagine the Combine might of been close with a breakthrough for their intra-dimensional travelling needs, but then Gordon killed it, but they found Earth through it’s chaotic outburst of portal energy in it’s death throes, and so found their key to local teleport transportation. Just theorizing here, heh. :bms:
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
