Got a feeling they won’t change much but would be great if they did.
I mean the structure design is great just the textures and lighting/colours need a complete revamp like the Photoshop edits did.
Hopefully feedback gets taking in and the caves look alot more alien in the next build lets see…
Personally I actually found most of those edits to have a much less moody atmosphere. Esp. that pink/green one. They certainly look… strange, but I think you can manage alien and atmosphere at the same time.
I’m certain not all of Xen has that blue ambiance. After all, we’re looking at a closed-ceiling cavern, illuminated by blue electrical lights and likely the blue glowing healy water from the first game.
Regardless, I think what we’ve seen so far is perfect! They’ve taken creative license to a perfect level. It’s familiar enough to be recognizable, but different enough to be a new experience.
What I think we should really wonder about is how well it plays. The original Xen was full of long-jumping but also had plenty of on-foot segments (as well as plenty of difficult combat). I wonder if we’ll see a better balance of it all in New Xen? Or if it’ll be relatively the same ratio?
Carbon stars with ancient satellites colonized by sentient fungi. Gas giants inhabited by vast meteorological intelligences. Worlds stretched thin across the membranes where [the] dimensions intersect… Impossible to describe with our limited vocabulary!
