Xen Factory and Vortigaunts

Okay, I’m pretty sure this was discussed before, but I don’t remember how it all turned out. And I can’t find the thread, I expect it was lost in the crash.

I recently replayed Half-Life. The last time I did that I was twelve or something. When you get in the factory for the first time you hear Nihilanth say something like “Not alone, you are not alone.” or at least I did. Then when you move forward all the Vortigaunts ignore you. I did avoid blocking their path, but still they walked near me without attacking. In the end I basicly move to the the other area without fight.

Can someone explain this to me? Is it because no Alien Controllers were in the room? And I guess this remains in the mod, or not?

Surely if it was in the original, it will be in Black Mesa.

They are non soldier vortigaunts, they are workers like the one at the smaller factory where you meet the garg.

It’s because they are alien sex slaves.

And they probably want you to go and kill the Nihilanth so they can be nude.

The other Vortigaunts weren’t soldiers either. I’d imagine that most (if not all) the Vortigaunts on Earth were teleported there unwillingly after the resonance cascade.

It’s simply how it allready has been said they are worker vorts. I just hope that they would actually look like they are doing something, in HL they just stood still or walked around the place.

Nah, I don’t agree. Vorts are like canon fodder or scouts for the main invasion made with A_grunts. Vorts attack anybody, even harmless sci’s and work together with other aliens.
But since they are slaves, they do other tasks like working in the factory or cleaning toilets.
At last, if you kill a controler, vorts still attack you (even if you don’t aim them) so it’s only when Nihilanth die that they escape voluntarily.

And we can keep arguing this because none of us have any proof :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup

Problem solved.

I’m either going to like you or hate you… lets hope it’s like.

Jesus Christ, Up-link haven’t experienced that in years, although is the burning of the Vort corpses really necessary…i guess so

well the vorts r slaves, in HL2 they r friendly because u “saved” them, but I didn’t know that the vort workers became friendly if u kill all the controllers?
