Xbox One Discussion Thread

Old people seem to be more scared of new technology more than they seem to be inept at it.

My 60-something years old dad bought a laptop some time ago and initially he was just intimidated by all this new stuff he had to learn. I tried to teach him to the best of my abilities (and patience) and told him to not be afraid of exploring and, most importantly, read everything that appears on screen. He mostly only uses it for Facebook, e-mail and watching TV when he’s traveling at work, and while he seems to be fairly proficient at it now, he’s still quite wary of going beyond his safety zone.

You’d think old people would be scared of the Xbone for all of it’s privacy-invading features and whatnot…

I don’t think the common everyday-person reads on about what the XBone actually does and how its features invade your privacy. Most people (including old people) thinks like “Oh, a new shiny thing from Microsoft! I bet it’s packed with loads of awesome stuff.”

THAT’S WHAT THEY WANT

I’m really enjoying this.

The Microsoft Youtube channel had this video of Watch Dogs up for a little bit and apparently there were black bars on the top and bottom of it. At one point the black bars flicker or something (I didn’t get to watch it) and you can see that they were covering up PS4 controller prompts. So either it was the PS4 version of the game (which would be worse) or the PC version being played with a PS4 controller. You could argue that it was just the footage given to them by Ubisoft but then why try to hide the prompts with black bars? The video was just removed in the past hour.

Edit: Here’s a reupload of the video. It wasn’t black bars like letterboxing but black boxes over the button prompts.

wow, they’re really screwing up consistently

It’s likely that the Xbox One versions of the games look noticeably worse and have framerate problems, so they can’t show them “yet”

…gets his xbox live account auto-banned.

…still calls it a great console

Well, he was releasing info that’s all under NDA. I’m not saying it’s his fault, he clearly didn’t know. It’s just some overzealous legal guys doing their overzealous legal jobs.

HE didn’t sign any NDA, so how does that matter at all?

Anyway, MS has said they’ll restore his account when the console launches officially.

I see W8 start menu tiles. Is that as bad as I think it is?

I’m pretty sure MS wants to eventually have some kind of inter-connectivity between all Windows 8 devices.

Yeah, that’s why this is fucked up. Everyone else who has an open XB1 account did sign one.

It’s content that’s usually confidential getting released by a freak accident, and it’s being handled pretty graciously imo.

Xbox One Won’t Support Twitch Streaming Until 2014, But Videos Can Be Uploaded To SkyDrive.

Apparently they spent over 9000 bajilion dollars on the Xbone controller, but somehow it still doesn’t tie your shoes while beating the mouse and keyboard at shooter games…

I bet they spent that money on hookers and blow and just put it down as going towards the controller.
