The Kinect wasn’t invented by Microsoft.
Have you guys heard of the LEAP motion device? It’s a new development but should be available soon enough. It can track finger movements up to a thousandth of a millimeter, so that pretty much rapes the kinect.
Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor still sucked major ass.
Microsoft is taking down the leaked documents:

There was this other popular franchise on the Xbox platform… certainly something to consider… …I’m having trouble remembering it exactly, but I think an upcoming game might be released on the 720…
I think the developer began with “V”… I think the game is called… (fill in the blanks)
_ _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ _, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I think it will also be released on the PC.
Okay, that was kinda cool. Honestly I don’t give a shit about the visual distortions, either.
I want Google to do this with their augmented-reality glasses. I want them to use three cameras watching you in a triangle so you don’t get too many missing faces. And I want them to use some hardware other than a wand to interact with the environment… I’m tired of wands and 'motes. How about something that wraps around the palm?
The mesh is obviously jerky, but it’s well within the realm of software to convert to voxels of varying resolution.
I predict the next step is to improve capture-display quality and augment the image to remove display-hardware from over the eyes.
Kinect is probably one of the most versatile and awesome peripherals every sold. It just sucks for it’s intended purpose.
It’s a a cheap affordable solution for mocap and 3d scanning. People have done ‘useful’ shit with it like used it to map out the interiors of disaster areas… It’s just too fucking cool. Next version… You bet your ass I’m getting it.
Xalener, I know what you’re getting at. It’d be cool if they sold it to indie/small developers in case they need cheaper equipment (well I guess it’s at least cheaper). But frankly, I don’t see how making some idle gestures would help the game any better. Although, that’s probably just me thinking with my medieval brain not used to a machine that doesn’t run on power coming from a horse/river.
I remember the Extra Credits episode on Kinect. The whole “making the controller fun” thingamajig is something I can’t really wrap my mind around. Maybe some shining saviour will come from down from the diamond encrusted pearly gates to make Kinect worth it all along.
When you blink in the game, you blink for real
blinking is so yesterday daddy-o
This is under the assumption that they’re just going to throw minigames at the kinect or shove kinect functionality into a game and expect it to work like they have been. It doesn’t have to be that way. Child of Eden is a great example of a Kinect game done right. Probably the only one sadly.
No doubt the first models will catch fire or something and it will be a huge fucking disaster like the 360 all over again. This thing looks slightly better than the Wii U buts thats not saying much.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
