Would you have rather have waited for Half-Life 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 or have gotten episodes 1,2 and 3?
Episodes 1, 2 and 3.
Alot of the time sequels are not as impressive in gameplay, because developers think the technical improvements are enough. With the episodes, Valve are highly inclined to provide great level design and gameplay, with only small tech improvements.
I’m with Dust on this, I want to see from beginning to end the story of Half-Life 2. Especially with how episode two ended, episode three proves to be just as captivating.
Though I have a strong feeling that Alyx will die at the end of Episode 3, to make way for the new Half-Life 3 storyline. Though perhaps she will just play less of a part in Half-Life 3.
Die to make way for a new story!? What are you on!? Gordon and Alyx are going to make a child and it’ll have it’s own game! :3
Godran Fellman shall be his name.
Gorgon Frotlman.
Alas, I also wish Alyx would GTFO already.
lets not get into another Groudan Foreman thing again.
Alyx isn’t going to die, Half Life 3 will probably still star Gordon Freeman, yes I would rather have gotten the episodes like we did than wait for HL3.
Nope, Adam Savage is the name…
As for the thread question - yeah I like episodes better… I like that they continue on each other, and fell like one game… And the episodes provided us with game experience over the years - If we had to wait for Half Life 3, it would have been a long wait - you can judge by the wait time for the Episode3 - if it takes so long to make the final Episode, Half Life 3 would have come out at the (roughly) time of Episode 3 - so, it would be 6 years delay between HL2 and HL3, and thats 2 much…
Thats the reason why Blizzard is releasing Star Craft 2 in three parts - its all about hype, if it goes down, they lose money xD
It will still star Gordon, no doubts.
Also, I think Alyx is a great character, but there is only so long she can stay a travelling companion.
They tried to kill her in EP2 but you saved her you bastard.
:fffuuu:
The Half-Life Episode is Half-Life 3. k?
Episode 3 will wrap up the current story that started with Half-Life 1. About damn time too.
But yeah, I like Valve’s episodic plan as opposed to waiting 10 years for Half-Life 3. Though it’s been two years since Episode 2. You’d think Episode 3 would of been out by now.
But, if they’re working on trying to come up with the perfect ending, then they can take all they time they want as long it doesn’t become another Duke Nukem Forever. I want this to be an epic ending. There aren’t many game franchises that have a great ending, but I want Half-Life to be one of those games.
Only in your sick dreams on FanFiction.net.
They show everything that Gordon does, never leaving blanks. How could they ever show him and Alyx ‘making’ a baby…:fffuuu:
Also they make sure that the player is in full control of Gordon.
Debatable.
Half Life 2, episode 3 hot coffee, duh
Except Valve actually said it’s basically Half-Life 3.
Look, if Episode 3 is really going to end the current story arc, and if the Episodes all form one game, and if this one game took place after Half-Life 2, wouldn’t that make the Episodes, oh I don’t know, HALF-LIFE 3?!
Citation or it didn’t happen.
^This.
I honestly want to get crapisode 3 over with so that HL3 can come out and bring some fresh new gameplay and story to the franchise.
I would have preferred for Half Life 3, now don’t bash me for my opinion there is a good reason for this. I believe they said something or another about the Half Life 2 episodes, being basically Half Life 3 except with less of a wait. But if you look at the time between Half Life 1 and Half Life 2’s release dates you can see the difference is only 1 yr. more than Half Life 2’s release and now (and may be less by the time episode 3 comes out).If episode 3 comes out in 2010, it would be justified, but since they have not shown anything for it, I don’t know…
Well I guess I should be glad they went with the episodic way of releasing, because I was brought into the world of Valve by the Orange Box, and if they had no Half Life 2 episode 1 and 2 they probably wouldn’t have made it… Anyways thats my opinion, if they don’t add some non insubstantial upgrades to the technology of episode 3, and resolve the story in a way that leaves things open to expansion for a sequel, it won’t feel like a worthy wait. Hopefully Valve will deliver, and it is unlikely that they won’t, but you never know if they will just continue making LFD sequels. (not that I don’t like me some zombie killing)
