No, because the beta is open to anyone who owns Bad Company 2 for the PC. I have it as well, and it’s currently downloading so I can play it for 10 minutes and declare it shit.
As long as a game is about modern warfare and thrives for realism, it will be exactly the same as all others with the same goal.
Fuck modern warfare. Of all kinds. With the exception of spec ops the line because it looks stylized enough to be cool.
I played it for about 15 minutes and was bored out of my mind. It’s pretty, but so is everything coming out these days.
And these finding should come as a surprise to no one. And the annoying thing is, its still going to sell well.
So did Modern Warfare 2, so have the Halo games. It seems all the generic run-of-the-mill games sell really well, and the inventive games that are awesome sell like shit.
Because people can’t be bothered to learn how to play them.

Half Life sold something like 8 million copies, HL2 6 million without Steam sales, so yeah, at least valve games sell well.

1998 was a different time from now, when not everything was overdone in video games and people playing all different types of games, like Tim Schafer’s adventure games and the like. Times had changed by 2004, but as the original Half-Life was a classic in FPS history, not many people were about to just ignore it.
Suck on this, internet: I thoroughly enjoyed every Halo game, yep, I’m one of THEM. Now that that’s out of the way.

And as much as I love Modern Warfare 1 and 2’s campaigns, the multiplayer makes me want to headbutt myself in the face.
Now, I enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2: Battle when I played it as a kid but I have to admit that it is garbage.
Meh, I don’t actually like adventure games. Tedious romps through generally bland locales as you try to discover, as Yahtzee put it, the developers unique logic.
But anyway, yeah, gaming has changed. So have a lot of things. Things change. The best one can do is try to make those changes for the better. I still think that a game like HL2, was it released as a new franchise, would still sell almost as many copies as it has with it being a sequel. Game reviewers would still have loved it, people would have listened and bought it, and everyone would be happy.
Every opinion you have ever had is now invalid to most people on this forum. I can understand liking the MW1’s campaign, it was bad, but had some good moments, but the second was terrible. It had its moments, and they all lasted about 30 seconds and then you were stuck shooting at boring enemies in boring locales.
