Jesus fuck this is sounding too cool.

Pacific puppet states ,Japanese-German cold war, Atlantropa (that gargantuan project where they build hydro-electric dams around the mediterrainean to drain it’s water to form a Utopian Afro-Euro super continent) in wolfenstien would be about enough
i cant imagine them colonizing the moon (let alone mars and venus) like in Iron Sky
though The Man in the High Castle doesnt depict robots, but rather nuclear technology just like in the real world (except, the fascists use it for spacefaring and their cold war against the rival superpower Japan, who doesnt possess nukes)
off topic: apparently the events of The Man in the High Castle are ALL because of Giuseppe Zangara’s assassination of president Ted (which many theorize was his intended target)
wonder if Roosevelt died in this game’s storyline too
Alternate history is a great genre indeed
The texture cache settings (on release, not sure if it was patched) were optimised for something with a tiny amount of memory - hence the dreadful, constant texture streaming.
A simple config tweak could eliminate almost all of the texture streaming (they’d load once at the start of a level / save load) with no performance or stability issues.
As for how it looked… it would have been a bit better with less texture compression (particularly in the dark areas which make up a large portion of the game) and some dynamic lights and shadows.
Sounds interesting so far.
I guess I’m one of the few (?) people that liked Wolfenstein 2009.
Wolfenstein 2009 was not a bad game. It was just… average. Pedestrian. Ho-hum. Generic. It was competent, but rather bland.
I did like the semi-open world shennanigans between “levels,” however. It was an interesting experiment in that regard, but it just didn’t feel open enough.
Didn’t like return to castle neither 2009 one, Mortyr rulez.
Ah, classic dotard.
GameSpot preview …(there are some light story spoilers in the video)
Some details:
I feel sorry for whoever has to promote the hero of that game. Just saw an ad in my facebook feed:
“BJ is back. Watch the debut trailer…”
lol
Dual-wielding?
DO WANT
srsrsssrsrsrsrssrsrssrrs
the one big homage to wolfenstien 3d has to be the concept of being a one-man army (which is what seems to be so in this one)
at least that means there will be no dry allies wanting you to do mundane tasks
that would be soooo niiiiec
video length is “13: 37”
they mention alot about “fast movement” and “satisfying gun-play” and even “secret areas”
wonder if this means the new game will have old-school style gameplay mechanics (i.e no ironsights, maybe bunnyhopping)
the guns in the game look like they would only be shot from the hip
and the moon colonization concept is comfirmed :fffuuu:
also, that scene the guy mentioned where this women gives BJ a joke-stress test, to test if he is a “true aryan” (if he was deemed impure, he would in theory be killed) really says somthing about the narrative not only making the character feel vunerable, but also display the twisted ideologies of the fascists

Well apparently he is excited to work on a classic style fps.
jerk
I want to see footage so fucking bad
i didnt mind Raven’s remake of Wolf, however it was overall average and felt like it lacked any kind of real direction… it just kinda had all these ideas just chucked in together and it never really felt that any of them were fully realised (the hub world, using “the vale” ect.)…
i really hope they just pick one direction and go with it, preferably keeping the gameplay as true to the original as they dare…
so classic style gameplay seems very possible, holy shit this hype is building up fast
If this really is id Tech 5, then boy am I happy. I feel like an old father who alone cheered for his kid on the baseball team even though he was a benchwarmer. Nice to see this engine reveal itself as viable competition for the other guys.
