lolno
also, re windows stability:
20% of webservers.
Why are they not using this super stable os?
Fuck off with the mac vs pc bullshit. We have like 30 threads for that shit.
but people are wrong on the internet
people are wrong IRL, too. I wanna watch you come up to a total stranger on the bus and start an argument against apple because of their ipod.
That’s what everyone expects from you, darling.
I wish I didn’t have to, but their products are so popular and they suck so badly
Now what can I do…
Lol, what? That’s exactly what OS X is… and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
OSX is based on unix but not on the Linux kernel.
Unix =/= Linux
based on freebsd
I was going to post that if I was disputed.
can we get back to discussing windows 8? whats the new build like? game performance compatibility anyone?
As far as I understand, it’s more or less Windows 7 with the optional Metro UI for tablets and such, so I don’t think too much has actually changed…but I haven’t done too much actual research into it for a while now.
Anyone installed the dev preview build?
I’ve been running it as my only OS since pretty much day one. It takes less memory than Win7 and most of the small upgrades they’ve made (like maintenance, logon and task manager) are nice, but they are small upgrades. The Metro UI is nice… but can get annoying.
They’ve upgraded Windows Explorer to be Metro - which is really just what they call adding the Office style ribbon. Account settings are now saved online instead of locally. Windows Defender has been upgraded to a full Virus scanner, so I didn’t even need to install AVG/MSE/ etc.
I’m waiting for the beta release to really judge Windows 8, though… I’ve had quite a few crashes and blue screens with hardware that worked fine in Win7.
The best news is that Steam works perfectly. If that didn’t work I would’ve uninstalled the Developer Build almost immediately.
I smell lawsuits coming.
Why?
Remember the shitstorm surrounding the whole Internet Explorer monopoly thing? Some European countries sued MS for bundling IE on all versions of Windows without making users aware of alternative browsers like Firefox or Opera. After that was over, MS was forced to ship European versions of Windows with a dialog window that informed people of the existence of other web browsers besides IE and even direct links to their sites.
Now, my previous post was mostly a joke, but I wouldn’t be surprised if MS made that same mistake again.
