are u guys excited with 7 as i am?
You wrote that?
I find it hard to believe that your spelling, grammar and punctuation here translates into perfect writing in that article.
Also, I`m having an issue with my keyboard. It puts É instead of question marks (copy pasted the above one), it did this on my laptop too, and I forget how I fixed it. [COLOR=‘Red’]Disregard this, apparently Canadian keyboards have funny letters as opposed to American keyboards.
In the article it talks about UAC, Microsoft introduced that because the consumer said it was too easy to let malicious programs take over your computer, so they said, hey, if we put this in, it allows the user to block any unauthorized action
. So they did, and it made windows more secure, it`s an annoying feature, but the consumer wanted more protection, so they got it.
my article have been corrected by someone, so that’s why it’s good although it doesnt have much changes. im doing my best
UAC is great as far as security is concerned but it is annoing indeed, in 7 notifications are far less so i think users will not have any problem with it.
Strange issue about that keyboard… if you can find drivers in the internet install them, this might fix it
I’ve been using the RC for a month now and I must say that it’s better and faster then Vista when it was released.
I might install 7 on my laptop when I get a new charger for it.
Most likely I’ll stick with XP though, unless the video drivers work better on w7 (Quadro NVS 110m)
I will hopefully be getting Windows 7 when it is built-in because I need a new computer. :’(
I don’t have a problem with UAC. In fact, I think it is a necessary component of windows. It’s the same theory as not using root all the time on a linux system.
I had my doubts about UAC in vista but in 7 they definitely made it easy to avoid (by the user) just right click and choose Run as Admin, or make it always run as admin in properties.
windows 7 has tons of updates on graphic drivers, you should really try them. read here -> https://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/04/25/engineering-windows-7-for-graphics-performance.aspx if you need more details
UAC isn’t a problem, unless you’re constantly installing and uninstalling programs like what I do at work, testing VM’s and disk images, that kind of thing. Then it gets in the way.
I’ve been using Windows 7 for quite a while now. I have the newest build of it (thanks to the simple upgrade option)
I have to say I finally feel like I have an alternative to XP.
Some very small issues, but I haven’t had the system explode or anythign on me… yet.
Are the minimal specs lower or higher than for XP? Because I need to reformat my sister’d old athlon and XP runs just fine on it. So if Win7 is lighter than XP I’ll put Win7 on it.
winxp is 8 years old os of course are higher. they are the same as vista although with minimum specs on vista you couldnt do anything without slowdown, on 7 with minimum specs your pc will run just fine
XP
PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
CD-ROM or DVD drive
Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Windows 7
1 GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
1 GB of RAM (32-bit); 2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
16 GB of available disk space (32-bit); 20 GB of available disk space (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
The base install for windows 7 (for me) is 12 gb. It’s still fairly graphically intensive because it still uses the Aero interface, but it’s much, much more efficient about it then Vista.
Win7 would barely run on it. Here are its specs:
AMD Athlon 1.1GHz
1GB RAM
Geforce 6200OC 128 MB
80GB HDD
It will run fine on those specs.
I’ve run it on worse.
If it runs slow just turn off aero.
yeap, vista and 7 may have the same minimum requirements but the difference is that in vista with 1gb ram and 1ghz cpu you couldnt do much. in 7 with those specs you can run fine many apps
I’m definitely considering upgrading to Windows 7. My specs are:
-Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0 Ghz)
-1.5 GB RAM
-GeForce 6800XT ( 256 MB )
-And I have plenty of hard drive space.
Would it be worth upgrading to Windows 7? I need to format my computer anyways, I have stuff backed up, so that’s not a problem. After reading this thread, I’m reasonably certain that it will work, but would it be a sensible upgrade from XP?
yes, as long as vista is taken out back and shot numerous times.
your pc will run smoothy with windows 7, your specs are very good, you will forget windows 7 in about a week . what about other devices? do you have any webcam printer etc?
if you would like to keep some settings from xp you can use the program PCMover https://news.softpedia.com/news/PCmover-Moves-XP-Vista-to-Windows-7-via-In-Place-Upgrades-120973.shtml
you can also install some official updates that are not shown in windows update from here https://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=10571
i have install windows 7 in about 15 pc’s till now, don’t worry i havent notice anything. some of them have problem with the sleep function but with the updates it’s fixed
