Will Black Mesa replace Half Life 1 for you?

Hmm, this is a hard question. It would really depend on the quality of the mod when it’s released - but if it is quality and faithful to the original and the changes only serve to improve the game i might say yes.

Here is the wierd part, I HATE remakes of most things. Most of my favorite games i love to play with their old graphics, especially the 2.5d ones (ala Doom, daggerfall) But for some reason, i feel half-life would benefit from a remake. I have no idea why, but if this was for ANY other old game besides half-life that i liked, i would most certainly say no.

i think it will but to bad its a mod its self

Hard question for me,

i love the Vanilla Half-Life where jumping into the water with the Ichy was like fighting Jaws (Gordon: Uh guys i think we need a bigger Crossbow),

but, Black Mesa will probably take up most of my time,

so i guess its Black Mesa- 50% and Half-Life 1- 50%

I only played through Half Life. Once.

Black Mesa will be the second time.

On a side note, I’ve been through HL2 twice.

I never said I was a hypocrite. . .just an individual who moved onto other games after playing through Half Life. For the record, though, I made it a point to go through Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and Redemption (in that order). So I had numerous continuations of the franchise. I intend to play Decay soon, here too, since I’ve just downloaded the PC port/mod.

To add to the blasphemy, I didn’t care for the original Team Fortress (Classic), or Ricochet, and I loved Wanted! to death.

Don’t even try playing Decay by your self, its much better with someone else.

BM is gonna have a hard time replacing HL if it never comes out…

When is it coming?

That’s the 20 000 dollar question around here.

That’s the idea…and one of the main reasons I didn’t bother to get the PS2 port, because with a computer, you can link up anytime with your own screen.

No. It is a change of prespective. It’s another game, except you already know where to go…

Pretty much yes. That’s the whole point of Black Mesa, to recreate the greatness of Half-Life without being hampered by 1990s technology.

Half-Life will remain in my heart for nostalgic and historical purposes, but the mod (assuming it’s great) will now be the definitive depiction of what happened at Black Mesa.

Ill cut you.

i never liked the original so i don’t care what blackmesa source does with it. it could use an update anyway, visually and story-wise.

The original Half-Life has it’s fair share of glitches, bugs, and it doesn’t look that good. Black Mesa will certianly replace it and I hope they do a good job in doing that.

For me it will never replace the original Half Life.
I think I will play through it one or two times.

There is a possibility this mod is gonna replace Half Life 1 for me

Played the original one, then the Source and this one seems much better due the graphics used in the mod

let’s say it like this. Nothing can replace Half Life 1.
But I’ve played HL1 so many times, so I will surely play Black Mesa Source when it’s released. Cause that’s also like a old/new game and if you have a better update, you use it… right? :freeman:
